I went with my boyfriend for my birthday and I absolutely loved it!! There was still a wait, despite reservations but the view was amazing and I love the koi. The food was good (I loved the truffle fries) and the staff was nice.

Flowering Tree quickly became a favorite place of my partner and I. Jo, the owner, Min, and Jo Jr., were very friendly and the service was exceptional and the food was phenomenal. Min, Jo Jr and I had great conversations the few times we visited as we stayed at the Hollywood hills hotel located on property. The breakfast sandwiches were to die for from the croissants to the paninis as Min is an excellent chef and they weren't just ordinary sandwiches they were a work of art. The secret homemade balsamic glaze sauce was the topper that pushed this culinary experience over the top and to perfection. They also have a few select beers, sake and a large variety of wines. I highly recommend visiting this intimate Cafe and try as many food items as possible as they are all delicious! The prices are very reasonable cinsidering the location. What a beautiful location. We will be visiting this amazing Cafe every time we visit the area. We definitely some new friends!!

I haven't been to Yamashiro in a long time and it has unfortunately not aged well. The building is amazing, but the whole experience of arriving at the front is no longer. What used to be the valet, right at the front entrance is now an outdoor seating area (which adds its own problems as they now seem to have more tables than they can accommodate)and have to walk up around the back, which not nearly as nice or impressive. The food is mediocre at best. We have better meals in our Every Plate meal delivery than we got here at the restaurant. Even the Sushi was just OK, and that's not really ok.Service is slow and some of the staff was just going through the motion, and that didn't start off a great impression. We ordered two mains, and one arrived way earlier than the other. So by the time the second arrived, the first was half eaten. This is not acceptable. Don't serve main courses 10 minutes apart.I'm glad I got to experience Yamashiro years ago before the new ownership, but sad that this is now my final impression. I doubt we'll ever return.
Don't be like me and order the kyoto style temari sushi ?. Idk if kyoto style is supposed to be like that but the rice was way too sticky and glue-like ?. Other than that, the other dishes were absolutely delish and beautiful.
Highly recommend the jasmin tea.

Fantastic vibe with great views. The coffee and food is so yum. And the owner is very kind and genuine. Highly recommend this place, not your standard commercial coffee shop…
Pretty cool coffee spot. Nice atmosphere. Cool tourist location.
Portions smaller than my cat’s food bowl… also make sure you validate parking otherwise valet will try to scam you out of $20.
I wanted to like it, but you know I went right into my grocery store and got me a rotisserie chicken right after ? and now I’m broke

Absolutely love this place. Really amazing selection of natural wines from small producers, and an incredibly friendly staff who genuinely care about and love what they do. The salmon guanciale was out of this world, and the unagi bento was another favorite.
Way too high class for me. But I visited as a special take out order from a featured chef. It was beautiful, serene, perfect atmosphere. I felt invasive lol
Our party of 4 never even got a chance to try the food. This restaurant does not provide a menu on their website! They have an instagram page but it's not really about the food (dishes) they offer. On the day we had reservations we tried and tried and tried calling to find out 1) If our table was inside or outside and 2) We wanted to know how/where we can see their menu. No one answers the phone!!! We decided to go and 'hope for the best'. Upon arrival we are more/less forced to valet the car. We go over to the restaurant and asked why nobody has been answering the phone. The reply is, we've been very busy. I said, we've been calling for hours, which was met with a 'shoulder shrug'. We sit down and are handed the menus. One quick look, there are maybe 6 food items to choose from in total!! When we ask about this we are told 'it's Sunday night and we have run out of items (or something to that effect). The four of us look at each other and decided to get up and leave. Kensho Hollywood, you are (apparently) a well established restaurant in CA, act that way!
Good food, went with 40 other ppl.?
The most basic stuff in a sushi is rice, but the Kyoto sushi here had the worst rice that I can imagine—soggy and overly moist. The moment that the sushi was in my mouth, both real sushi and and I were severely humiliated. The chief here is definitely fanatic about Yuzu. Salmon tartare, hamachi tartare, and crab rice all tastes like Yuzu vinegar but not the “umami” taste from the fish. Uni toast was average. Mushroom salad was surprisingly good. Overall, if only well-plated food and good views are needed, this place is OK. However, I was looking for good food, and what I got was below average.
