Kitchen Mouse is one of those rare spots that feels like it’s smiling at you the moment you walk in. The soft green and pink décor, the whimsical touches, and the cozy kids’ area all make it feel like stepping into a storybook. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made , from their baked goods to their fresh breakfast items, lunch and tasty early dinner offerings , everything tastes like care.

Best gluten free pastries in LA! Everything is delicious but the strawberry scone and pistachio cake are my faves. For breakfast I get the morning glory bowl and smashed potatoes. Yum. The tofu scramble is mind-bogglingly delicious. I also don’t know what they do to the brown rice but it feels like I’m eating a dessert coz it’s so chewy, fluidly and perfect.

Expect a long line at this popular neighborhood breakfast/lunch spot on Figueroa in Highland Park. It’s family friendly with an unpretentious, cozy vibe with walls painted white, pink and light green. I recommend the chilaquiles for breakfast or lunch. The tortilla chips are covered in enchilada sauce, cilantro cream and cashew queso, with slaw and toasted pepitas, black beans and tofu scramble.
