It's in a food court. Amazing flavors and textures. It's like I've never had a tortilla before. Go.

We decided to venture to Komal on a Wednesday. It was about 1:30pm and we were able to walk right up to the counter. We ordered the tlacoyos and a quesadilla of squash blossom. Both were very good and rich in color, texture and flavor. We also had an agua fresca, which you can request with or without ice, and was refreshing.

What the actual @#&$ not only is this is the first food I've had in LA that tastes even remotely like Central Mexican, it is absolutely brilliant even by that criteria. Thank heavens someone actually cares enough about corn to take the tortilla seriously. All the Mexican food you need in LA is within 50 feet of this restaurant...
Thank you guys! After 5 years of nothing really impressing me, I was beginning to despair. I am just excited to see what else you cook up (chileatole? mole de almendras? elote with marrow? escamoles? or my absolute favorite: salsa de hormigas chicatanas?!?)
(Also this Michael O. person who gave you a poor review is totally out of their mind! I don't know what they think "authentic" means, but they have obviously have never had Mexican food)

So authentic Mexican food! As a Mexican this flavor and plates remember Mexican street food. The Sonia taco is delicious, the sauce is delicious and the flavor and consistency of the tortilla is excellent.

Quesadilla de flor de calabaza could be better… too much corn and didn’t taste authentic.
Wow- the flavors are fresh and food quality Devine! Komal offers a new taste in the Mercado with strong connections to indigenous farm techniques. They offer a wide range of vegetarian dishes and could adjust for vegans as well. The service is amazing and the location is very special. Can’t wait to try more dishes.
Vegetarian options: They offer special bean dishes, salads and tacos.

The only authentic and most delicious Mexican Mercado food in town. I’m from Mexico City and I’m perpetually disappointed by Mexican cuisine in LA, and this honestly hits the spot on every level.

We’re locals and we are always going to Mercado La Paloma. We’ve been waiting for this place to open and we were excited to see it finally open. We ordered the Tlacoyos, 2 quesadillas , molotes and their pumpkin bread. The quesadillas were amazing. We ordered the hongos and the guisado. It was soooo delicious. The tortillas were amazing as well. We weren’t a big fan of Tlacoyos, although they were ok. Tlacoyos seem to be simple as they are already but we felt like their masa was missing flavor and they were hard. Other than that the nopales were good. Their salsa wasn’t spicy but it did have a savory flavor. Overall we were happy to finally try it and we weren’t disappointed! Their agua de nopal with cucumber was also very refreshing! So happy that KOMAL has joined El Mercado de La Paloma.

I read about this little spot in an article on Eater LA. And I wanted to give it a try. I’m always looking to find a good place where I can get good Mexican food. They serve antojitos (which are like appetizers?) The menu is simple, but it feels just right to take care of my Mexican food cravings. Let’s start with the location. Komal is located inside Mercado La Paloma. The Mercado’s entrance is not that visible from the street, at least not to me. I’m been driving around this area many years, and I’ve never noticed it. Once you enter the lot, the parking lot looks like it might be full, but I was able to find parking right away. I figured during lunch time, it might be kind of difficult to find a spot, but there’s also parking on the street. Once you go inside, Komal will be on your right hand side. It’s a bright spot, it looks very clean, and inviting. The food was absolutely delicious. This is the real deal. I ordered the Tlacoyos, and two quesadillas. I was very hungry, and I thought I was going to eat all that lol. I finished the tlacoyos and took a couple of bites from the quesadillas, just so I could give you my honest opinion. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised on how good the food was. Everything was just perfectly cooked. No need to add salt or anything really. Although, the salsas that they give you are an excellent complement to the food. Their customer service was excellent. The cashier was super friendly, and she was the one that brought my food to me. And they didn’t take forever to give me my order. There’s plenty of tables where you can seat and enjoy your food. Just keep in mind that these tables are shared by the other restaurants in the Mercado, so you’re going to be sharing them with other people. But if you go when it’s not busy, then you’ll have a whole table to yourself. I think that’s it :)

Wonderful Quesadillas. The tortillas are heavenly, I got a dozen and ate one right away with just some salsa in it (like when I was a kid) the tortilla just melted in my mouth like cotton candy, so good. The salsas that came with each Quesadilla were perfect too. 5 out of 5 or 10 out of 10 don't matter you get all the stars.
