Good Eating but never will go back again.. Half a Chicken? We got a quarter..lol
I ordered 10 items today: Lucenachon, Lechon kawali, Grilled chicken/lechon manok, Hiramasa collar, prawns, Laing, Tofu mushroom, Chami noodles, Pancit sotanghon, beef tapa savory kind.
I’ll say my favorite is the Lucenachon, it was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked, it’s moist and tender. I will order this again for my friends gathering for sure.
My second favorite is Pancit sotanghon. I like that the noodles is not too dry, I like the flavor especially when you add lemon juice, the only thing is there’s not much meat.
My third one is the Chami noodles, my first time to try this… The noodles are the thick kind of noodles so it’s filling, but I like it’s flavor with lemon juice also…
Their servers are friendly, always smiling and was considerate with my error.
The restaurant atmosphere is fair. It said about 28 people can dine in, first come first served.
For parking, I parked on the street (metered), glad it accepts quarters… lucky to have found a spot across the street/ by the street curb.
no phone call order. For my order, I ordered online/ messaging through email… that’s when I made an error on my orders. This is not really the way to order.
Ordering is really through their Square account.
Make sure you got your orders in and paid through their square account, before coming in, if you are ordering “to go”, (coz like for me I’m coming from 66 miles away, I want to pick the food and leave to save time and to beat the traffic).
And they did prepared my food on time, with great consideration as I was driving from afar…
I’ll give only 3 stars for the food. Kuya Lord was not there… maybe the foods would have tasted different if it was him who cooked the foods that I ordered. I do understand the owner can’t be there 6 days a week. 👍
5 stars for atmosphere and service.
Thank you

Probably the best Filipino food I have tried in LA. Authentic Filipino food with amazing flavor. Tasilog Kuya tray + Lucenachon was perfectly made.
The place is small and works like a cafeteria with counter service. The seating space is minimal but worth the wait to eat the food fresh.
Kid-friendliness: Small space. Not best for young child's that don't want to sit still
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a table designated for wheelchairs

We had kuya lord cater for a large party. The food was absolutely incredible. I was worried a large order would affect the quality but it did not at all. Excellent food - highlight of the party! Especially the prawn and lucenachon

Heard about this place on IG. It’s a Filipino Eatery with a James Beard chef offering lucenachon and java garlic rice.
The place looks great with the wooden bar tables with steel stools. Limited seating, so they don’t really take reservations. The staff was friendly and welcoming as this was my first time.
I ordered the Lucena Chon Kuya Trays, it’s their roasted pork belly that has really good crispy skin. It also includes Java rice which was tasty and chami noodles and achara of which I loved all of it.
Parking: You’ll have to drive around the block to find metered parking

Preparing food for someone is truly a labor of love. Kuya’s take on Filipino cuisine is amazing. It’s skilled, refined, elegant, and frankly you can taste the “love”. I’m grateful that he shares his gift for my family to enjoy.

wonderful dinner at Kuya Lord, delicious and simply comforting. we were starving so we got a tray of blue prawns (new dish), lucenachon, yellowtail collar and longanisa. the portions were generous. everything was on point and reminded me of home. self-service and seats are limited, got lucky to get a table for 4 at 7pm on a Thursday night

Stumbled upon this spot before the hype & the Beard award. Chef Maynard was alone in the kitchen doing it all to perfection. I finally returned today, slightly worried the hype may have led to a drop off. My fears were for naught: Kuya hasn’t missed a beat. This place is something special.

Insanely small portion of meat for a $50 tray. Lechon was mediocre and noodles are grossly sweet.
To restaurant's response: the portion was easily half of the described 1lb. The item was priced at $49 not $47. And the word sweet is nowhere in the item description, so i was only trying to warn others that these are not what you would expect just from the name. So please do not accuse me of being misleading when my review was entirely accurate.

We went for my friend’s birthday, after having read good reviews & it was very disappointing. Service is zero. No one comes to clean the tables. And the tables are narrow, just enough to place our foods. We had to hold our plates, afraid that they would fall. After eating, we had to clean our tables for the next guests.I wish I didn’t tip. There was no service anyway. I think it’s good for a lunch break while at work but not to celebrate something.
The grilled chicken was raw, we had to ask them to cook it again. Everything was salty to very salty.the Lechon Kawali wasn’t crunchy, not worth the price that they asked for. We had to go to a Thai Resto we know for dessert.
It was our first time… and we surely are not going back.

Finally, I got to taste Kuya Lords after reading that it received a James Beard award. Growing up with gpod filipino food, it was a refreshing take on dishes that me and my wife and I love. I had the Lucenachon bowl (11/10), and my wife had the Tocilog (9/10). We had that with some JuicekoLord calamansi juice. Everything tasted great. The Lucenachon had perfect crispy skin. You can hear the crunch when you bite into it, and compared to regular lechon, the skin wasn't too touching after biting into it. That went perfect with the Atchara (pickled green papaya) and the vinegar dipping sauce. My wife enjoyed her Tocilog, but because she's Kapampangan, she was biased towards the original pork tocino vs the beef tocino here. I liked it, but it could see why the taste is different compared to pork. The calamansi juice was good. The slight honey flavor threw me off a bit, and I wanted more of the calamansi flavor, but it was still good (8/10)
