It's not here anymore, miss the tamales. It was an illegal marijuana shop. Now that's going too!
My parents came to raise us in echo park and we were poor but made it everyday happily being part of a community that had everything so close and convenient. Today Marks a day of true sadness and grief amongst our family and many others who are Latin or just those who loved the smell of their fresh bread while passing by to hop on the 92 or just simply walking by. The bread being just right with it being not soggy or not dry , perfect on a rainy day. Their champurado made everything feel right. I'm sad even in tears to say this bakery is no more. Because of the selfishness of marijuana. As a weed user it is disgusting and disrespectful towards the Latin community to take down this beloved bakery to make it become a dispensary. There are so many dispensaries in Los angeles and you just had to take over a family business that had so many memories. I'll never forget you la espiga Bakery. Thank you for your services.
Good Bakery, I tried the Flan, and puercitos (pigs) My Family and I liked the good tasting pastries.
Zero stars. They have a banner outside and it clearly says bakery, I am one of many people who came in and out very confused. This is now a medical marijuana dispensary. With a large banner saying they sale sweet bread. Banner could easily be removed, I guess they don't have time since they are very busy waking weed.
This was the best little neighborhood bakery in Echo Park where you could get delicious Mexican cakes, breads, and even tamales. A couple months ago the building was covered top to bottom in AstroTurf and last week looking to get some sweets I walked in and everything was gone it is apparently a weed dispensary now. When asked the guard what happened to the bakery he had no idea of what the building was even though the old banner from the bakery is hanging in the front still. When asked how good the weed was guard couldn't say because he didn't smoke. Another hidden gem of Echo Park now gone. Why they didn't combine the 2 like weed with baked goods I have no idea. Either way little delicious bakery you will be missed.
Really good bread, I wonder why it closed to a marijuna shop now....they should sale marijuana conchas now, I bet customers will come back for more...
Nice place good service by a Iranian man ! Thanks
I hope you don't close
Tried the jalapeí±o and cheese torta and a slice of chocolate cake. This place is a small bakery with a homey feel. The bread was so fresh that it was still warm. Love the new look with the grass on the outside.
The pizza of the day was very good - goat cheese, red onion & artichoke. It wasn't too heavy and was wonderfully satisfying.
