Cockroaches in the bathroom. Drunks bringing their drinks out onto the sidewalk and a lot of people smoking in the tented sidewalk area that’s supposed to be just for dining. The crowd is rowdy and foul mouthed. Definitely not a family restaurant. They serve turkey meatballs as French cuisine and the food is not from fresh ingredients. Terrible rude service…

Yelp removes valid reviews so posting here. The food isn't that good, the service is worse the atmosphere sucks. The place is full of overly drunk people who then leave and go to their cars and drive drunk without intervention, and they illegally allow smoking in a tent off of the front door so you have to walk through cigarette smoke to even get in there. Then when you get inside you order remotely and if you do have interaction with an employee half the time they are rude and all for food that you could microwave at home.

One could only call this place French if they’ve never heard of France before visiting. What a disgrace. Drunks everywhere, staff is inattentive, laughable food. Baffling.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OF MONEY SUPPORTING THIS BUSINESS.This place is trash. Pretty ridiculous they don't even take your order. You have to take your own order, which doesn't even work half the time or charges you twice for the same order. Then they expect you to tip for service when you don't get any service. What a joke. Waiting for answers on if our order went in or not and wasting time.

Lovely food, appalling service. We arrived at 5.30pm ordered our food. At 6.45 my sons steak had still not arrived! There were no explanations or regrets. Additionally my wife's food and my own arrived at different times so it was impossible to have a family meal together

food would be better if cigarettes didn't overpower the food. We spent more time asking people to stop smoking than we did enjoying the food. I don't care if "people do it all the time" as the wrinkling hag told me on her way out, it's LA County law. This was my first time returning in 4 years, I guess I will extend the hiatus.

You can hardly call this French food. Saw the rude owner yell at an employee over something that turned out to be her fault. This set the tone for an over-priced evening of tension. Merde!!

I have been coming to this place for over 20 years and I am really sad to be writing this review, but La Poubelle has sadly changed for the worse since the pandemic (new management ?). Food quality has gone downhill and they seem to be aiming for more of a fast food vibe with burgers served on paper plates. Many of the classic menu items like frisée salad are gone. Service is sub par and the restaurant is quite understaffed. Worst of all there are now paper QR codes on the table where you are supposed to order with your phone which makes no sense for ordering cocktails. I get it that restaurant economics have changed but I would rather all prices be raised by 25% than these changes. Please please bring old La Poubelle back!

I was born in France. So occasionally I need some French food. This place looked great. Like an actual French restaurant even. However the inattentive staff, the wobbly tables, the music, and having to order through your iPhone ruined that illusion. We were willing to overlook these idiosyncrasies while we perused the menu. Which was entirely filled with Italian American pasta dishes and burgers. We tried ordering a beer. They were OUT OF BEER. It wasn't busy. We left. I feel sorry for the locals who think penne, burgers and spaghetti are French food. I promise that eating near a Pernod poster doesn't constitute a French dining experience.

The food was great and the ambiance is wonderful. They did miss an item we paid for but they brought another one

This place is SO charming right along with its owner Francois! The food is INCREDIBLE and you’ll have trouble putting the fork ? down! Trevor and the rest of the staff we encountered were super helpful and kind. They used to make you order from a QR code but they are offering “old school service” or that option is still available too! We chose to have a server and enjoyed our conversation, the ambiance, the food ?, and Francois is the most precious man ever go support his business! Merci beaucoup! ❤️???
