I live in West Hollywood, but I stayed in the Mid-City area for three weeks. La Yalaltequita quickly became my personal cantina. I sampled a variety of dishes from the simple menu of Oaxacan staples. They were all excellent.
I've eaten a lot of Mexican food in my life. La Yalaltequita is one of my top experiences. Subtle spicing, robust flavors that still retain the taste of the ingredients.
It has to be one of L.A. best-hidden secrets; if it weren't, there would be a line around the block regularly. Even the hibiscus tea is like nothing I've tasted in Mexico, rich, smooth, just flavorful enough.
It's a bakery with just a few tables. The bread is heaven, too.

Great sandwiches and fries!Came here on a Friday, easy-ish parking and great service.
Kind employees, great food. Definitely don’t miss out checking out this new place in town!
Had a torta de asada for lunch. Great portion for the price! The torta comes with pickled jalapeños so if you don’t like any spice, make sure to ask they leave them out.
