I've been there several times prior when you would get the waygu they had a different assortment of vegetables that was cooked just for the A5 Wagyu this time. It was the same vegetables as everyone else which took away from the experience. Also, the last time I came, the chef sliced the waygu in slices this time, the chef chopped it all up into little bitty pieces which I didn't like
On level 8 with a bunch of other restaurants and a bit hard to find since it's like a maze. Once inside, there's a host that'll great you and then you walk through a bar that has live piano / band music later in the evening. Go through another “secret” door for the restaurant. Started off with a quick magic show and then the appetizers. Drinks are good but expensive. Didn't give us the option for tap water. Main course was waaaaay too salty. The only thing edible were the vegetables since it wasn't seasoned. Their seasoning has waaaay too much salt. Suggest you tell them to hold the seasoning and add it yourself later if needed. Do they even try their food?
Hella good food. Soup was very savory. Salad was very good and I'm a salad snob. Fish was perfectly cooked. Fried rice was probably the best fried rice I've had this year.
This place was a disappointment. I made a reservation for a party of five and noted that we were celebrating a birthday. We were seated with another group of four—also a birthday celebration—which was fine, but I still had to remind the staff about both birthdays before they brought out the desserts. Service was extremely slow, and no one came by to bus the table, so dishes piled up throughout the meal. Someone from our group eventually had to get up and ask the staff to clear it. The chef also over-salted nearly every dish, which weakened the flavors of the main course. Overall, I'd rate the food a 6/10, especially considering the price point. What bothered me most was that someone in our party ordered a glass of wine and was charged for a full bottle. Thankfully, I caught the error before we left. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing from start to finish, and I wouldn't return.
Outstanding food and service - the whole level 8 is a very fun place to spend a night with a good company!
Wife and I ordered the chicken, I had shrimp fried rice and wife had the crab fried rice. Chicken was served cold and left a bad taste in our mouths wife couldn't even finish her chicken I tried forcing mine as far as I can normally I would finish wife food be didn't have no desire to. It was date night for my wife wish I would've chosen a better place for her to enjoy her surprise dinner we both said we tried it and definitely don't have to go back. Disappointed for sure
9:45 pm reservations turned into a 10:20 seating, waited with the rest of our table until 10:45 for water and finally cocktails to be served. These were really tasty cocktails, but after the wait, we felt like chugging them! Service staff was great, but understaffing made for huge time gaps in taking our orders, delivering drinks, then BIG pause before a soup ( delish, but then by this time we were starving) the a salad, which was soaked in a vinegar dressing that pickled our teeth and couldn't be eaten by any at our table. We reported this to the waiter who was very responsive, and wanted to make amends, so graciously brought specialty shots to us. It was nearly 11 o'clock before chef came to start teppan grill. Matt was awesome and delivered a spectacular meal with his personal flourishes, so he saved the evening BUT it was so late the we were the only table left, and all workers but our server had all gone leaving us to find our own way out from this cleverly tucked away dining area. A pricey dinner, though delicious food, and way too much time waiting! Might try again, but at a much earlier time. Perhaps, this place should not allow late reservations if staffing does not support it.
Appetizer shrimp was not cooked through which made my stomach upset. Food was on the saltier side. Chef and magician provided great service. Servers and hostess were polite but system felt unorganized. Beautiful restaurant but have room for improvement.
It was the low of our Los Angeles vacation. We spent $400 for inattentive service and food I could not eat. We were the first table sat. Though our reservation was at 6:00 p.m. we did not get sat until 6:30. I let the server immediately know that we needed to be done by 7:45 for a 8:00 show. I also let her know that I am allergic to capsaicin and explain that was bell pepper and red spices. She told me to let the chef know when he came out. When I asked for a Pinot grigio and asked if it had a lot of oak. She got flustered. Went to the bar, spent about 15 minutes there and came back with two chardonnays for me to taste. When the food started to be cooked by the chef, I had a conversation with him and informed him again of my allergies. He proceeded to say it was fine. Then he laid out all the food and began to talk about this wonderful spice that the kitchen made from scratch, including Old Bay and Montreal steak spice. I can have neither of those. Then he liberally put it all over all the food including the steak I ordered. I immediately told him that I couldn't eat any of that food. He said *oops.* He took the steak off, put it aside and got a new steak. Then proceeded to do almost the same thing. He prepared the new steak right next to all of the spiced food with very little care as to where he sprinkled spice. He also used salt flakes in the same proportion as would have used his regular spice. The result was a steak undercooked which along with the veggies were so salty as to be inedible. With the danger of the spice, I didn't eat much of it. Because of the late start we ended up having to leave before the last course was served in to make our show. My husband and I had really high hopes for this meal. It was going to be the food highlight of our week-long vacation in Los Angeles. Given the price and all the mistakes made, it was by far the worst.
Our server, Cassandra was great. The food was a little salty, but our chef was also very personable. The downside is that they didn't apply our hotel guest discount to our bill. I went back the next day to talk to a manager and “no one can help you but they'll contact you tomorrow” (per the host, Lenz). No contact or follow up was made. Tried calling back and couldn't get a hold of anyone. Make sure to check your bill before you leave. We learned our very expensive lesson.

The food was wonderful! The service exceptional we even had our own magician! Love it here very classy and fun!
I was invited to this restaurant that is inside of Level 8 in DTLA.
It’s a nice place. It’s an experience for sure.
It was crowded! It was a Saturday night; after all.
Courteous staff greeting. Pleasant servers.
Crispy and cold champagne. Stiff cocktails.
Overall good food; the beet salad WOW!
It did seem a little unorganized all together and all around.
First course was a salad and it took almost 30 minutes to come out. I finally asked the server who was a darling: (Dionne) Are you short staffed?
She replied; “no we’re not short staffed, it’s coming.”
After the salad it all seemed to have fallen into place.
A magician came to our table and he was somewhat funny. He definitely made the wait for food seem shorter as he entertained us with his cards.
I had a good time. Too crowded for me. Too loud, too. I’ve never been to a restaurant for dinner this crowded and this loud.
My date and I walked next door (literally) to Wanderlust and the live band was good. A Dj came after and was good, too. We had a table but our server came once and never again. Frankly; Wanderlust seemed over capacity.
We left early because it was too packed and couldn’t get a second round of cocktails at our table.
There was a lot of people standing in front of our table and in particular two very tall men in their grey, sweat pants and sweat shirt, sets.
Where did the dress code go? It’s L. A and it’s a Saturday night people! Cmon…..
I recommend experiencing Maison Kasai at least once.
Again, for me, the beet salad was the MVP of the night.
Hope you’re all enjoying your summer……
