Probably rank it somewhere between 4 and 5 stars so let's round up to a 5. Got 2 sandwiches, the jambon (ham) and the Daniel Special (with prosciutto) with the latter a little saltier and richer. But both sandwiches lay on an almost perfect baguette lathered with rich butter. Every ingredient seems to be of top quality that creates a delicious sandwich. The other plus is that they offer half sandwiches!
We ordered the jambon beurre and the Daniel’s favorite. The baguette that was supposed to be crunchy and soft, felt quite gummy and stale. There was also an obscene amount of butter. I had an entire bite of just butter. This would be better if the baguette was crunchier and the butter to bread ratio was less. While the sandwich looked picture worthy, it was not worth the drive.
I can’t say how the food is, as I didn’t end up eating here. But it’s very disappointing they only sell sandwiches and don’t sell just the toasted baguettes and jam, especially being that it’s a breakfast spot. I saw on TikTok that someone got just a baguette, butter and jam, so they clearly do offer that to some people. I guess you have to be an influencer to get good service. Wish the offerings were the same for everyone because I drove half an hour to try this place because of the video I saw. It’s also pretty silly to not include this item on the menu or offer it upon request to a customer considering they have the ingredients. Definitely a waste of my time.
Best French sandwich
Maison Matho has that tucked away, cozy neighborhood feel that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled on a local secret. It’s small and almost easy to miss. They have a little seating area to enjoy your food. The real star here is the baguette: perfectly crisp on the outside and wonderfully fluffy inside. Honestly, I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, but the fluffy omelette sandwich really hit the spot for me. Tip: ask for some hot sauce on the side.
Just a heads-up, your sandwich might take a little while to come out, but it’s worth the wait. Grab a coffee, settle in, and soak up the charm of this little neighborhood gem.
The omelette sandwich?! Are you kidding me???? So good.
Freshly baked outstanding..
Could be more flavorful, also a bit pricey. Omelette with Trout Roe doesn't offer half order.
You will not find a better gourmet sandwich in LA.
Just an avg French sandwich strip. Decent butter and choice of meat but nothing to write home about. Drinks lean closer to too sweet.

Sooo good! I had the Daniel. I wish I got the whole instead of the half
Jambon was good. 1/2 size was perfect for me
I came here for coffee and tea, and it was great. I had an Americano which was excellent -- you could clearly taste the flavor of the beans.
This place is basically a stand on the side of the road, but still has 2 nice seating areas. I was comfortable while waiting.
I'll be back to try the food!
High quality ingredients. Tried two sandwiches, both incredibly delicious! I also got a crème brûlée grapefruit and what a treat. Highly recommend. Fair prices as well!
The best French pastries and sandwiches in LA. jambon-beurre is a must try =)!
