The greeter was excellent, but the moment that we was seated,we told our waiter that we was waiting for two more guest. As we waited for the rest of our party, another host allowed another guest from a different table to take a chair from our table, without asking or knowing if we were going to need it. Once the rest of our party got there,we ordered our more drinks, our appetizers and main dishes. Our waiter saw that the two from our party was done with their drinks and took their glasses while myself and the rest of the party had empty glasses sitting on the end of the table waiting to be taken. I had to wave for someone to take the glasses. Our food could have been better,my wife had the mixed meat fajita plate. Her shrimp didn't look cooked, the steak was cut really slim and some pieces were burnt, the chicken looked boiled. The plate didn't have any seasoning on the meat, she was disappointed. The birthday girl had chicken fried lobster, this dish didn't come with any sides and she wasn't asked if she wanted sides. Our drinks, prior to coming we called and asked about the airplane flight margaritas,we were told they wasn't served there and that we could get the smaller flights for $22. Overall with this being my first time there I'm not sure if I would go back.
Not a great experience for my first visit. We stood at the hostess stand for 3–5 minutes with no staff in sight, and when someone finally arrived, we didn't feel welcomed. There is a $40 per person deposit for no show / late cancel fee which doesn't seem consistent with me waiting 15 minutes after my reservation time to be seated. As I said, waited 15 minutes for a table only to be seated in a dark corner. I requested multiple times for the candle on our table to be lit so we could actually see, but it never was. To make matters worse, my meal was delivered to the wrong table and placed in front of other guests. The server then tried to take that same plate and give it to me once the other table and I informed him of the error. Meanwhile, my friend's meal looked unappetizing and the shrimp was undercooked.
Absolutely stellar experience at Mama Por Dios in Downtown LA! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was electric – vibrant Mexican decor, lively music, and that gorgeous open-air patio with DTLA skyline views. But let's talk about the real star: the food. The guacamole is hands-down one of the best I've ever had in Los Angeles. Made fresh tableside with perfectly ripe avocados, bright lime, cilantro, onion, and just the right kick of serrano – it's creamy, chunky, and addictive. We demolished two orders before our mains even arrived (no regrets). Everything else we tried was equally outstanding: the carne asada was tender and beautifully charred, the al pastor tacos were juicy with that perfect pineapple sweetness, and the mole enchiladas were rich, complex, and soul-warming. Portions are generous, flavors are bold yet balanced, and every dish feels like a love letter to Mexican cuisine with a gourmet twist. Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. Cocktails (especially the mezcal margaritas) deserve their own shout-out – strong, creative, and dangerously drinkable. Mama Por Dios isn't just a meal; it's a celebration. Whether you're grabbing drinks with friends or having a full dinner, this place nails it. Already planning my next visit – that guac has me in a chokehold. Highly recommend! 🇲🇽🔥
My second time back to this gem in DTLA. Did not disappoint. Great menu. Great drinks at reasonable prices. My new go to before a Laker game. The food is solid.
Great place to host a birthday dinner with about 15 guest. The servers were attentive and the vibe was good. The bartender served us in our private room and her drinks were tasty. The food was okay. Most of the table ordered steak frites which was okay.
Our waiter was terrible. He never checked on us once. Just took our orders, and then walked around to ever table but ours. There was a photographer walking around and took everyone in the restaurants pictures but ours which I thought was very odd. The food was underwhelming. Ceviche was the only decent thing we had. Bathroom was dirty. Overall I was very displeased with the restaurant as a whole. I would not go back and I would not recommend anyone I know to go there either.
We had a table no one came by and then we moved to the bar over an hour and no one helped us there was a girl who was behind the bar texting horrible service for a place that is supposed to be high end
The female servers were rude and not amicable And continued to ignore my table Toook forever to bring us a drink menu But Richard was amazing but the rest of the staff was not a great representation of the restaurant
Definitely not worth the hype. Ordered the shot flight $100 and was expecting the hype of the dancing and all but was very disappointed. Went in for a Bridal shower dinner bill almost 1k... everyone thought the same.
Everything was good, we came from Philly and had a pretty good experience but the portions were a little small compared to their pictures.

It was slow and the service was not as expected servers took too long to attend and didn't get the experience I expected.
Elevated Mexican cuisine in downtown LA. Excellent service and very good food and ambiance.
Loved the quest fundido! The tacos were also great! But I certainly ordered way too much! Also, how does one get the bar to come to you? That was so cute my duckie drink was fun but would've been cool if he made it in front of me too.
When I got there with my party seating took forever and then when we got seated we were seated for almost two ours waiting for a server and when we finally got our food my friends didn't like the food and we changed our drinks twice because of the taste overall the ambiance was very nice and pretty
