The aguas frescas of melón are not made with water, they're just thick puree and ice, tasted frothy and not refreshing. I asked nicely to exchange item for other item, I usually love their ice creams. Rude customer service, the older woman in the back told us it's "not made with water, it's made with a can of pulp and ice." I'm over here confused looking at the menu clearly saying "melon water" and she said it's "not our problem if you didn't like it." She gave me sass and said I should have "asked to taste it beforehand." I was never given that option. This was just a FAILURE of customer service. They need to rethink their policy on how to address their long-time paying customers. My family is not going to buy from there anymore.

Bought an esquite from here and wait time took a bit long for just that but that wasn’t really the issue. After receiving my esquite I opened it up in the car, the cheese was pretty funky but I thought maybe it’s just me overreacting, I proceeded to take a bite and the cheese tasted expired. Literally like expired milk smell and taste. I went back in to notify the cashier. Didn’t make a scene or anything just told her that the cheese tasted expired. She then went and got the “person in charge”. This man tried to play if off as if that’s the way cotija cheese smells and tastes. I’m not new to cotija cheese, I use it in various dishes. Yes, it was cotija but expired cheese at that. He told me so would you like a new esquite with no cheese? Hah that’s hilarious, then that would just be corn, I told him no thank you I’d just like my money back. To which he went back and forth with me over $5.50 saying the cheese isn’t expired because the expiration date hasn’t passed. Cheese can expire from improper storage. If he hadn’t been rude maybe I would’ve substituted for something else like an ice cream but for him to argue with me over expired cheese, nah I’m good. To top it off I’m pregnant and expired cheese could definitely cause many problems for my baby and I. Don’t mutter things under your breath either after being in the wrong, some people have patience and won’t cause a scene and others will. Expected a lot from this establishment especially with all the variations they carry, unfortunate. This happened on the 28th of October around 2:30pm.

They don't take orders over the phone or the guy in the back at least doesn't want to work until you order in person. Lazy and horrible customer service. It's not like I ordered 10 things man, cut the damn banana and make my order it's only $9 relax I'm not going to flake.

Mateo's is the absolute best! It is my partner's favorite go-to place for ice cream and fruit bars. They have so many flavors and other food items too (esquites, malts, bionicos, and sandwiches). Haven't tried the sandwiches yet but if they're anything like the ice cream, you will love it. They're super friendly and incredibly accommodating. They make sure to provide each person that walks through their doors the best service possible. It's such an inviting lovely establishment. 100% recommend coming to Mateo's to satisfy your ice cream cravings.

My wife’s showed me this place when we first began dating and the flavors stayed consistently all these years. My go tos are the lemon and mango con chile sorbet flavored ice cream. They make the mango con chile mix properly and not too much chamoy! The lemon is phenomenal and I have even tried their smoothies and they’re great as well. Nothing but the best in town, and the prices are great as well!
Most definitely coming back. So delicious and creamy and very flavorful, plenty of flavor to choose from. Best price for the cup size. Service was helpful in narrowing our choices because of my indecisiveness so we ended up getting half a dozen different flavors to share.

This place is located in a not so great neighborhood and easy to miss but what they offer is worth the trip. Amazing selection of popsicles and ice-cream. Friendly staff and quick service. They were happy to give samples and answered questions for newbies like myself. Totally coming back for other flavors. Smoked milk ice-cream was interesting and a must try if you've never had it before.
