The best sushi omakase in town! Food is tasty, chef and staff are really polite and friendly. Easy parking area, not hard to book, and the food and price totally worth the value too. Highly recommended!

Hands down the best sushi in K-town, and one of the most impressive traditional Japanese Omakase restaurants in L.A. Soft abalone is something you cannot taste anywhere else. They have over 40 different types of seasonal fish served everyday. Fresh octopus, sea perch, uni, golden eye snapper, giant clam, firefly squid, and many more. It was amazing. Service was impeccable as well. This is a true hidden gem in K-town.

Probably one of the top sushi chefs on this continent - definitely of what I’ve experienced, and the closest I’ve come to feeling like I’m in a high end sushi place in Japan. Went to Hirozen in WeHo a few times years ago, then Matsumoto at that same location, and I’m so excited that it has moved to Koreatown, within walking distance for me. Had lunch there today and every single bite was perfect. It’s not cheap, but it can’t be, at this level of quality, service, and attention to detail.

We chose the 15 piece omakase after a long day of restaurant hopping — next time we would definitely do the 25 piece omakase, with more room in our bellies.
I am a loyal 3 time per week Matsuhisa customer, and I will return to Matsumoto on a regular basis.
The fish quality and freshness was excellent, the atmosphere authentic and pure, and Matsumoto is a wonderful guy and sushi savant.
Would highly recommend to anyone who has refined taste and appreciation for authentic Japanese sushi.

PHENOMENAL. best sushi i’ve had in LA - no question… and definitely in my top 5 ever. Did the 25 piece omakase. kept waiting for a disappointing piece to arrive but it never came! Chef was friendly and took great pride in his work. the fish was incredibly fresh (flown in from japan one day prior) and the service was flawless. i spent way too much money and don’t regret it for one second. thank you Matsumoto for a fabulous meal. CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!

Best sushi I’ve had in LA. Ordered two recommended nigiri’s, the premium chirashi, and the purple yam desert. All were great and the two nigiri’s and purple yam were amazing.Service was perfect.Atmosphere could use a little work - the sushi and service definitely outshine and make up for it though.

I would love to give this place a perfect score. It has excellent food that tastes of authenticity. They need to do something about lighting and flooring. That's all. It would make a huge difference to the ambience, and probably isn't such a huge investment. It's enough to keep you from going there for a special event, but don't let it be enough to keep you from going for a fantastic meal, and a fantastic time.

The best ingredients, the best technology, and the best hospitality, all of which are the best. It's not a formal atmosphere, there are always smiling faces, and best of all, you can enjoy each piece of sushi carefully! This is a store I would definitely like to visit again.

There is expensive and then there is too expensive. Everything is Delicious. But simply overpriced. As in double the price of what other nice sushi / steak places charge.

Maybe the best sushi dinner of my life!!! We got the 26-course omakase and sat at the counter and were treated SO well by everyone, from the chef to the servers. We got to try incredible sushi that we'd never heard of before, all of it perfectly executed. A wonderful atmosphere. Feels like such a hidden gem, I can't wait to go back.
