Don’t look at the 5 stars with no reason or no why they gave 5 stars! They are probably from frind and staffs. Some could be from ladies on dates who enjoyed a free meal and win and if it is free, it is always good no mater what you get! Now my honest review:
I am an avid travel and have been in 33 countries and 228 major cities all around the world, Have dined in fancy 5 star hotels and Michelin rated restaurants. So my opinion is based on honest experiences and knowledge of how a restaurant should serve their guests.
We just were looking for a place to have dinner. We ended up getting a table at Melanie wine bar, not the best table but it was ok! As we sat down I noticed a strong cold air blowing from the vents in the ceiling. As the temperature outside was 67 degrees and all the windows in the front of the restaurant was open, I started to feel cold and uncomfortable. I even put my jacket on to remedy the situation. However the cold air from the vent was blowing so hard on my head that I started felling the chill! I got attention of a young men who seemed to be the hostess and also server, but he rushed by me and said just a minute. I waited and waited but he never came by and just kept passing me without stopping by. So I called him again and told him about the issue with the cold air from the AC. He walked away and seemed to be adjusting the temperature on the control unit. To my surprise the cold air continued to flow out of the vent as before. It got so cold inside the restaurant that I noticed everyone putting on their jacket. Seeing no change this time I asked our server to adjust the temperature on the AC. She brought this to the attention of the young men who I asked originally. To my surprise he dismissed the server request and stood near my table and mouthed something that I could not hear at all. I told him, sorry I can’t hear, can you come closer. He got closer and said to me. I can’t do anything about you being cold. I said evidently everyone else is cold because they are all putting their jackets on. He replied, well no one else is complaining! And he walked away! Such care for their guest, they don’t care! Now the food, it was ok, but the quantity was more like kids meal. I ordered see food linguine and the amount of food I got was enough for small child an I am not a big eater with big appetite! A little linguine in the middle of large plat and could not see and sea food in it, because they had cut the sea food is such tiny pieces. The entire food did not contain more than one piece of scallop chopped in tiny pieces. Prices are also high in $40 range for pasta dishes! I would not recommend this place because the staff do not care about the guests comfort and food is just ok. The place is small and cramp. Tables so small there are no room for your food and drinks at the same time. There are many other good restaurants you can spend your hard earned money, and be appreciated for your business!

My first time in LA and Melanie Wine Bar did not disappoint! The food was delicious, the wines were phenomenal and the vibe was just right. Our flight was delayed, and the team at Melanie worked with us on our reservation. 10/10, it will now be a staple in my visits back to LA.

I was visiting from out of town for a business conference and needed a quality dining option with great ambiance — this restaurant exceeded all expectations.
On my first night, Derek, the general manager, went above and beyond to squeeze us in on a fully booked evening. His warm welcome, attention to detail, and top-tier hospitality made us feel like valued guests. Our server Anastasia and her team curated an incredible four-course menu, guiding us through each dish with knowledge and care. The food was outstanding and the service flawless.
The experience was so memorable that we returned the next evening with a business partner. Once again, Derek and his team graciously found us a table despite the restaurant being fully booked. This time, they curated a wine tasting experience for us, including their sommelier providing a unique selection of wines that elevated the meal even further.
Both evenings were nothing short of spectacular. The combination of exceptional service, thoughtful food, and welcoming atmosphere makes this one of the best dining experiences I’ve had anywhere. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area — whether for business or pleasure, you will leave impressed and wanting to return.

Not recommending at all. Terrible attitude, I went there alone at 5:30 pm, only 2 outside seats were occupied and the rest of the tables were absolutely empty. No reservation sign. They told me they can’t give me a table outside because I’m one person and they can only seat me at the bar. They were that rude to the point that they were walking while talking to me. Zero star!
My favorite combination is wine and lava cake. Unfortunately they were out of lava cake!! Which says a lot cuz it’s probably sooo yummy. Got their crème brûlée instead and that was delicious.
I forgot which wine I had, some red wine.
The waitress was also super friendly and nice.
We sat outside and it was easy to talk to each other, calm with a warm breeze.

they have an excellent selection of wine here & for a bar, their food dishes were impressive. the tater tots were crisp, the crab fettuccine was fresh, and the bread that came with the burrata was perfectly toasted. i was pleasantly surprised & would love to come back again!

A classic wine bar with decent food. Wine specials Sunday and Monday. They should open earlier…
I just absolutely adore this place. there is a very personable feel to the style of service. I love the food and the wine but seriously it’s the staff that makes this place one of my favorites. All of the wines were described to me in a way that actually made sense … The server said that one of the wines was fruit driven, flirty and voluptuous! I just couldn’t get enough of these wine descriptions… I come back just so that my friends can hear her talk about wine. It’s absolutely hilarious! The food is also really good and not pretentious at all. I would recommend making reservation especially during prime time and it can get pretty loud inside! Heads up!
An all around wonderful experience. I was a solo diner without a reservation and the manager was so kind and accommodating. My server was also amazing, very personable and knew exactly what she was doing. The aesthetic and vibes are remarkable and authentic. Their wine selection was great and I would highly recommend the Cab Franc. Melanie deserves the highest of praise.
We were really looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet expectations. Our meal started with brown lettuce, which we had to send back, and while it was taken off the bill (obviously), there wasn’t much in the way of an apology. From there, the service was fairly indifferent, and the food itself was underwhelming—bland flavours, and the pasta arrived barely warm.
On a positive note, the wine was great, and I can see this being a nice spot in summer for a drink outside. Hopefully, it was just an off night, but we won’t be in a hurry to return.
Nice little wine bar in mid-city. Robust selection of wines by the class and the dinner plates are reasonably sized and delicious. Loved the hanger steak!
