Midori Matcha Cafe

Today I was in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles and needed to find a restroom. I stopped at Midori Matcha and noticed they had a restroom inside. As a normal customer, I understand that I need to make a purchase before using it. So I bought a matcha latte.

After paying, I politely asked if I could use the restroom. The staff member told me the restroom is not for public use and suggested I walk five minutes to another location, or check with nearby restaurants or the supermarket in the same plaza.

Since it was urgent, I went to the two places she mentioned, but both said their restrooms were not for public use either. I came back to Midori Matcha — my drink was still not ready — and explained again that I really needed to use the restroom and had already purchased a drink. However, they insisted it was their policy. Another staff member, who may have been the manager, also refused my request even after I explained that it was urgent.

I felt very disappointed. In what should be a normal business environment, it was painful to be refused so coldly as a paying customer. Perhaps this policy exists because there are many homeless people in the area — I understand businesses may have concerns. But I am not homeless. I am a Los Angeles resident, a customer, and at that moment simply someone in urgent need of a restroom.

I don’t want to comment on the quality of the drink. Regardless of whether it was good or bad, I don’t believe I will return.

gets super busy & full but it’s worth it because the drinks and service is great! + the matcha powder they sell is amazing.

Line was not that long and the server was very professional and friendly to explain everything.
The Matcha ice was so delicious since the matcha powder was so evenly spread out over the ice cream with double matcha!
Would come back again.

Bought 2 matcha latte and wanted to use the restroom. Staff said we don't have a restroom when I just saw a guy walking out of their restroom. Why lie in front of my face?

This is my favorite matcha of all the ones I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a lot! Simply number one. The number of times I go there speaks for itself. I also buy their matcha powder.

I ordered my usual matcha latte but didn't realize it automatically comes with sweetener. When I realized my mistake, I approached the staff and asked if I could get an unsweetened version instead. They immediately and happily made me a brand new one. The entire team was so sweet, kind, and accommodating—truly excellent customer service! And the matcha itself was very delicious. Highly recommend this Café!

the softserve for hojicha and matcha swirl kinda good
but no restroom

One of the first matcha desert places in all of the USA, our first time was in 2016 or 17 and just went back for the first time in years and is still as great as can be

Tried this place and was pretty satisfying! Had their matcha soft serve first and it was rich to taste! Didn’t taste like other shops would make it non-rich or what some people would say grass tasting but that’s how you know it’s authentic. This place tasted authentic! It’s rich in every bite which made it worth $7 for it!! Prior to leaving I grabbed a cup of 24oz matcha latte and it was also very delicious! Service was 10/10 and efficient and organized! Parking is the only downside to this shop because it sits right in a plaza of little Tokyo so i highly recommend taking public transit or Waymo/Lyft out here to try this shop. Happy to revisit to satisfy my matcha love :)

I love this spot for soft serve but the matcha latte I got today was super watered down with barely any matcha flavor. I am definitely picky/snobby about my matcha but this is disappointing for a spot that specializes in matcha. (I’ve had better drinks in coffee shops like Three Fields or Rok). Also there isn’t a restroom for customers.
