This place has a nice vibe and staff are great. The food selection for vegans and non-vegans is nice and the food itself is delicious. It was a bit rowdy in the outdoor section on a weekend night and it made it hard to hear each other. This isn't a reflection of the restaurant itself but just something to be aware of.
We thoroughly enjoyed this place. Gastropubs are on the upswing in Los Angeles, and they are usually boisterous and fun, so I do seek them out. I am also eating my way through Echo Park, so Mowhawk Bend was on my list. Once inside, the interior rooms are wonderful, warm, welcoming, and in the case of the innermost room, astonishingly grand. We chose to eat there with the few other tables occupied by quiet people so we knew it would be a peaceful time. Games were on in the pub area and that is another room we would try, next time. The menu is good for a vegetarian/vegan and we had no problem putting our meal together. We skipped coffee and dessert, because we had another stop afterward, but did have stouts. Both could have been more full-bodied, rich, and I like them chocolatey too (like a Porter, for example), but since I rarely drink at all, hardly ever sip beer, I only like it dark and sturdy. The food was exceptionally tasty, unusual, and well made. I would return for the quality and the quirky, substantial, industrial atmosphere. Our room sported a giant fireplace, lots of plants, brick walls, skylights in the clouds above, and a feeling of being outside. It was warmly decorated to the point that everything had my favorite orange glow, including me, lol. I toned some of that down in my pictures here. The service, provided by the agile, friendly Jordan, was perfect. There are substantial china plates, heavy silverware, sparkling glasses, a tall frosty decanter of cold water, and both a linen and paper napkin. There was music. It was great and we will be back.
I had the friend chicken sandwich and it made me sick, I actually threw it up. The fries were good, the hummus actually tasted more like guacsalas then it did hummus(it was still good). The angry vegan pizza was good aside from how ridiculously hot it was. The staff was very friendly and I would probably go back because of them. All and all I give Mohawk a 5/10 only bc the staff, the really made the visit a lot better. Don't get the friend chicken tho. It's more like fried breading with a lil bit of chicken in the middle
My family and I went to Mohawk Bend before a Dodgers game and we were so happy with the food, service, and atmosphere. The staff was super friendly and attentive and the food was delicious! We hope to be back again soon!
They make the cheese and have good vegan pizza. The cauliflower wings are very good. Good vegan ranch too.
As a vegan this is my go-to pizza place!! My favorite pizza I’ve ever had (from anywhere) is the vegan white mushroom pizza (I believe it’s called bianco e verde on the menu?), it’s so creamy and delicious!! If you’re also a big fan of mushrooms you will love it. Any of their pizzas I’ve tried have been amazing and unlike anywhere else’s so you can’t go wrong with any of them, but be warned that the Angry Vegan is actually very spicy. They also have in my opinion the best value of price to quality & quantity of any other vegan pizza in LA. Vegan pizza can be insanely overpriced in this city so a place that’s fairly priced is tough to find. My non-vegan friends also love the vegan pizza from here so you really can’t go wrong. The atmosphere inside is good, they’re fast if you wanna do a takeout order, they have other food besides just pizza, really good appetizers, overall I can’t recommend this place enough!
Nice local gastropub. It's on Sunset Blvd, which can make parking a challenge. It's a nice casual gastropub w outdoor sitting. They are fur baby friendly, which is a definite plus. The menu has vegan and non vegan options. I ordered the following items:-Angry Vegan Pizza: Really like the thin crunchy crust. It's not as spicy as I thought it would be. Then again, I was told my threshold for spice is crazy high.-Pickled veggies: Refreshing on a hot day. Nicely pickled-Coconut shrimp: It was meh...nothing memorable. Had better.-Cesear Salad w veggie chicken: It was pretty decent, but nothing I would come back for again.
Vegetarian options: Vegan Pizza, vegan chicken
Trying Amazing place great atmosphere the exposed brick makes the place look awesome. The food was delicious and filling great vegan food pared along with non-vegan food everything was just scrumptious and seasoned beautiful. The service was ahead of everything we needed, having our food on the table giving us our drinks fast and in the hand for consumption.
I love this spot and come here often! I wish I could give it a 5, but for some reasons below I can’t. That being said, a top notch 4/5, and I do recommend overall!FOOD 4/5:first off, love all the vegan options. sweet that so many dishes are vegan OR non vegan (love that wording too)!I wish they carried a vegan or even veggie version of the chicken sandwich given there are so many great options at this point! Molly’s kitchen (available on US Foods) has the best one i’ve ever had, but it’s just vegetarian. The vegan cheese used on the pizza is not good (to me) — unfortunately barely a step above grocery store daiya. Not sure if it’s made in house or not, but maybe should switch to an outsourced one! A lot of coconut, way too much gooeyness and not much else! does not compliment the pizza and often (in the case of the bianca) ruins it. Can get by with super light cheese in some cases, but at this point I avoid the vegan pizzas which is a huge bummer. The non vegan pizzas however are absolutely phenomenal. Such a great easy-going style pie. Not too greasy, great flavor, I could even say nostalgic. What the local bowling alley or arcade served in your memories as a kid. Great stuff. The falafel burger absolutely smacks- get it with avocado. But unfortunately is not vegan due to the feta! Surprisingly they don’t have an option to switch to here. Why not grab a vegan sunflower seed goat like from Spero foods?Fries and sides are all absolutely great.Food (pizzas, fries) unfortunately never travel well though, even when I wait for it and bring it home, which is unfortunate.BEERS:Ton of beers on tap, only negative is consistently running out of the lighter beers yet they continue to carry a ton of heavier, hoppier beers. If I were their bar manager I’d absolutely cut down on the IPA (and carry some lighter IPA and pales for god’s sake) and carry a few more helles, pilsners and blondes (esp cause stone blonde is absolutely meh/10).Random note, if you like nice easy-drinking kahlua espresso martinis, don’t order them here. It’s a true martini with mostly vodka and a different coffee liquor.Service is usually good, although sitting in the very front outside I have been forgot about a few times. All that said, I come here all the time for a beer and some fries. My GF is obsessed with the pizza. And the location (except for parking, christ alive) is dope.
Parking: After 8pm, the neighborhoods behind mohawk don’t allow any street parking, so you’re left to park in one of the 3 street spots or park illegally somewhere around the block across the street.
I met my husband and another couple here last Tuesday at around 8 pm. I joined their table, they already had apps, and ordered a drink. We had a pretty nice leisurely dinner but I noticed at about 945 that they wanted us to leave. I knew they closed at 10. I told the table, hey, let’s close out and start to leave. We all had new beverages but we still paid the tab. I waited tables for a long time so I don’t like to keep people waiting around.Around 1005, mind you, we all have some of our drinks left, the manager came by and told us we need to leave in the next 10 minutes. There were at least 20 people left in the restaurant and she told that to everyone. So we left half full drinks and left. I will never return. I understand labor costs but we weren’t the only table left. It was super rude and we had spent $300 on this dinner. More than I normally spend on a night out. Unreal that a manager kicked us out 5 minutes after close.

My favorite pizza lives here. Ugh, I am willing to drive even more than an hour through la traffic for the food, specifically to get the potato pizza and the buffalo cauliflower ?The ambiance is so chill, the servers are welcoming, prompt, and knowledgeable about the menu. They have a lot of vegan or vegetarian options, and vegan is a plus because I can't have dairy. The drinks are flavorful and refreshing. They even have non-alcoholic options. They have the coolest old-school photobooth, and you can even rent a room for a private party. Also dog friendly, so that's a super plus for me too.
I chose this place because I enjoyed their menu a couple times pre-pandemic. Completely different restaurant now with nothing that I was looking forward to eating. Overall it was fine, I would definitely not go out of my way to eat there again but if I was on the neighborhood and it was the closest option, sure. Pizza was fine. No regular veggie option, besides white pizza. Coconut shrimp was only 3 shrimp which we shared at a table of 3 people. Brussels frisse was ok. Shared with the table and was not what I was expecting. We didn't finish it - walnuts in it tasted a little past their prime. Other flavors meshed well enough together but it wasn't a great dish overall. Atmosphere is good. We sat outside this time, but inside is nice. Music too loud, as with most places.
The food was OK. Nothing to write home about. Our dishes came staggered which is annoying because you have the first person waiting 20 minutes for the second and third dish to come. By that time her food was obviously room temperature. Not good specially for fried chicken. My dish, a simple sandwich, came last. This was the fourth plate. I got it for free since we complained about how long it was taking, given the fact they were not busy at all (long before the Mother's Day crowd arrived). We asked for a particular drink which included vegan horchata. Since they didn't have vegan horchata, we asked if we could have regular horchata instead. The waiter said it would be off brand. How?! You have regular sausage etc. you are not an exclusive vegan restaurant! Completely illogical. Anyway, the service was lackluster for them being only a quarter full.
Great place. Been there many times. Great menu, delicious food and beer, very good service......My only sort of complaint is I wish there was better parking. Had to walk several blocks but ultimately it was worth it.
I'm sorry, this place deserves the ability to be 5 star. “They offer a vegan menu, with non-vegan options” is more like it. They are one of the best vegan (mostly) restaurants in La and actually label the NON vegan items, asmost are or can be vegan. And vegan options get top billing on the menu. Lore has it that they invented the Buffalo Cauliflower, so best get that. The pizzas are amazing. The beer list is huge; extensive to say the least. And the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable. Like a beer-sommelier. I love this place so much and have been a customer for over 10 years. Fun fact, it used to be a movie theater. The screen was on the back wall by the fireplace. The staff are beyond amazing and accommodating. The food and drinks are always fantastic. I've never had a bad time at Mohawk Bend. The pizza chefs NAIL IT OUT OF TUE PARK every time. One of my top three LA vegan pizzas. Do not overlook the pickled vegetables! Updated from previous review on 2023-04-11
