4.2/5 for their chopped brisket sandwich. Sandwich was good but the only thing that carried it was the bread. The meat itself was good but nothing to be amazed about. Place is a bit overhyped in my opinion and I wouldn’t wait hours just to get food from this place.

Wait time was ridiculous. You would think with barbecue being cooked hours before it's served, everything would be ready just to dish. Since it's not like it's made to order. After waiting in line for an hour we finally were able to order. Still took about 30 minutes to get our food after ordering. Coleslaw was warm. Which I think made me sick later that evening or maybe it was the dried out jalapeno cheddar sausage. Maybe it was an off day for them. I know good barbecue. And was place was ok. Definitely not worth the wait.

If you don't like waiting, it's a good idea to arrive right when they open.
I had to wait about 30 minutes just to place my order after arriving, and then another 30 minutes for the food to come out.I have to say this is the best BBQ restaurant I've ever been to. The meat was incredibly tender; you didn't even need a fork—it just pulled apart beautifully. The seasoning was applied evenly and was fully infused into the meat. The bread that came with the meal was excellent; eating the meat inside the bread felt like having a completely different dish, which I loved. They offered two kinds of sauces, and both complemented the meat perfectly, which was a great bonus.

I’m so impressed with this business! From the amazing food to the service and the beautiful atmosphere. The best bbq I’ve had in a very long time. When we got there they were sold out of Mac and cheese and fries. The staff noticed our disappointment as our child is a very picky eater. We ordered our food and with out asking they brought out our own special batch of Mac and cheese
For our son. I haven’t experienced such amazing service in a very long time. They are kind, caring, and helpful. We will never hesitate to come back!

The brisket sandwich was delicious. The burnt ends were good for what they were, but definitely not traditional burned ends. Mac and cheese was good. I would come back for the brisket sandwich.
The bbq sauces were more just hot sauces as opposed to true, traditional bbq sauces.

This place is insane. Ordered many things on their menu and it was all spectacular. I would highly recommend getting there before opening because we had to wait a total of 90min in line/ to get our food.

Being a transplant from Texas I'm a hard man to please at a barbeque joint. This one is, so far, one of the top three in California that I have tried. Brisket was the star of the show with a great smoke ring, tender and juicy...I'm old school Texas and like the fatty side! Every thing was good and the service was excellent. I'll be back!

They use a white oak wood for their bbq and you can tell they put in a lot of effort to make good bbq. You won't be disappointed coming here. I really liked the brisket, thic burger, Jalapeño sausage. Everything looked good. Their sauces are on point too.

When the best bbq joint in the city collabs with one of the best bakeries in the city to make a smoked turkey on focaccia Thanksgiving sandwich, what do you do? You go wait in line for an hour, obviously. La Jefe sando is all of your best holiday table nostalgia wrapped up in one bite. My only complaint: it’s a limited time offering. 11/10 sandwich.
