I ordered the yucca fries and they made me so sad. They were overcooked, very dry and unseasoned. Also one serving cost $18

I only went there for drinks with a friend, but I’d go back just for Eric the bartender. One of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

What an incredible set of clean, so well portioned and delicious dishes. You can tell they source quality ingredients. Each dish was so perfectly balanced. I cannot wait to go back.
It is a bit difficult to find but once you get it it’s fine.

Overall pretty solid. I loved how much honey/pollen was worked into the menu. Service was good, although they poured still into my half full sparkling (not a big deal). Aesthetic was nice enough but felt a bit cheap. I could see this kind of design getting tacky over the next few years.
Menu was really creative and all the dishes I tried were at least solid, some were delicious. Good date night spot.
Went during the holidays. It was empty and the service was slow as molasses.

We had an all-around excellent dining experience at Mother Tongue last Saturday night. Food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. We ordered the beet hummus, mother tongue salad, beef tartare, octopus, and duck - all which were absolute home runs in flavor and presentation. Staff were tentative and courteous, and the restaurant itself is an absolutely beautiful space. We only ordered one drink each which kept the bill surprisingly low - phenomenal bang for your buck. Highly recommended and very much looking forward to visiting again soon.

Is Michael Mina still involved in this restaurant? The menu hasn't changed much in years from what I recall. All dishes that should be served hot came out of the kitchen at room temperature. For example, Jidori Chicken Tikka Masala has a fairly warm sauce with room temp chicken and cold onion tempura rings on top. The Octopus main was also served room temp and looked a bit sad. The kitchen appears to just assemble premade components as each order comes in. Service is mediocre at best. There is no reason to dine here unless you're a gym member who wants to venture upstairs for a bite to eat after a workout. Disappointing.

So glad I found this hidden gem! I was led down an alley behind a building and to an elevator which of course made me think I was starting a scary movie…but good news we instead went up to Mother Tongue!
The interior had a very nice vibe and we were greeted by the very friendly staff and take to our table. First up we ordered cocktails which were both delicious and we ordered our food.
I had never been here before and I wanted to see what they had to offer so we tried multiple things and good news….each dish was DELICIOUS! Literally nothing I ate I wouldn’t order again.
So if you’re in the mood for a hidden foodie adventure, check out Mother Tongue!

This place is really cute and clean. The music wasn’t too loud, you can enjoy a conversation or phone call. The menu for lunch isn’t super extensive but was super happy to see plant based options. Unfortunately my party didn’t have the best service. My friend ordered the hanger steak, when everyone’s order came out it was just the steak and no sides. We asked about the yuca fries and sauce that came with the steak but our waiter said since it was after 3 we only got the steak… even though she ordered before the cut off time and double checked with the server if it was too late to order this. They eventually gave us the yuca fries that came with the hanger steak and we had to go back and forth with the waiter to get at least chimichurri sauce since they didn’t provide any of the sauces that came with the lunch meal. Who wants to eat a dry streak and dry yucca? When the bill came, the yuca fries were charged separately at the dinner pice $18. Overall there was no communication and we had to advocate so hard for my friend’s meal and to have the price corrected. The whole experience really left a bad taste in our mouths and ruined our lunch. We just wanted some girl time and fun. The mushroom larb salad was delicious and vegan friendly, the cocktails were really flavorful and not too sweet. I’d love to come back but with a different server.
