I LOVE this place. I feel like I am in an exhibit at MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) or TMOCA when I am there, the decor is fun. I haven't been to McDonald's in ~30 years (since I turned vegan) but the food is exactly how I remember it. Don't get me wrong... it isn't as though I just ate a raw meal at Au Lac. It is junk foodie delicious but also on the healthier side. My children and I LOVE it.
We got the deluxe breakfast sandwiches with tots, and the chicken nuggets. It's so freaking delicious. The breakfast sandwich was very classic and super filling. The tots were nice and crispy. The chicken nuggets remind me of how the McDonalds nuggets tasted back when I was young. This place is awesome. Highly recommend!
Mr. Charlie’s was the first vegan spot I truly fell in love with. This isn’t just a fast food joint—it’s a full-blown experience. The branding? Genius. The food? Addictive. The nostalgia? Real. I still remember biting into that Not a Cheeseburger for the first time and thinking, yup, they did that. The fries hit every time, and don’t get me started on the Not a Chicken Sandwich… crispy, juicy, and everything I missed—minus the cruelty. From the red boxes to the cheeky messaging to the iconic in-store vibes, this place stole my heart and never gave it back. If you’re new to vegan food or just craving something fun, comforting, and wildly creative—this is your spot. First love at its finest. 10/10 recommend. 🫀
Great fast food place! Tastes just like I remember McDonald's tasting.
The Mr. Sunday was super delicious and tasty. The fries were cool. Cute fast food place.
The food is good, but the atmosphere is slightly hostile. You order at a kiosk while music is blasting in your face. Then a group of people prepare your order and drop it on the counter. There is zero human interaction, they don’t even speak to you. The tables and seating area are always put away one to two hours prior to closing time. So if you show up during in that time window, prepare to eat in your car, or while standing on the street. It’s weird for sure.
I took my mom who is not vegan and has always enjoyed McDonald’s. She thought it was really fun. I enjoyed their French fries as they reminded me of McDonald’s fries. The not chicken nuggets were delicious. Their burgers reminded me of McDonald’s but were more substantial and tasted better. We also tried the Mr.FluffHead which was delicious and creamy.
I've wanted to try this place for a couple years & finally had the chance to. Did not disappoint! Not exactly like McDonalds but pretty close. It really hit the spot. There was One Vegan & two non-Vegans & we all really liked it. We tried a Cheeseburger Meal, a Mr. Royale w/Cheese, a Mr. Sunday (Chik'n Sammie), a Sausage Breakfast Sammie w/Tots & some Chik'n Nugs. It was all good but I especially liked the Chik'n Sammie. It was one of the better Vegan Chik'n Sandwiches i've had. They were out of several items including The Mr. Chuck (similar to Big Mac) which I REALLY wanted to try😒 Updated from previous review on 2025-06-28
Pros: it does taste just like the McDonald's you remember! Cons: it's absolutely just as unhealthy as the McDonald's you remember. It hits all the right notes but at a premium - you pay restaurant prices for fast-food quality food. The quality is also a bit hit or miss - the 'chicken' nuggets are sometimes dry and stale, the fries are sometimes limp and soggy. But every now and then, this is the McDonald'[censored] you need.
O lanche lembra muito o do mac. Muito saboroso

Much like everyone else says, it does taste much like McDonald’s but in someway, healthier even though you’re having burgers and fries. Maybe it’s the no animal(s) in the meal. But yeah, it’s great for a burger meal or if you crave McDonald’s. Even if I wasn’t a vegan I’d choose Mr. Charlie’s over McDonald’s.
This spot hits the old school McD’s nostalgia experience. No vintage super size options here, however an all around fun and unique take on fast food but most importantly cruelty free. I had to deduct some points as the fries were not so good, tasted like they were sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Considering they were busy that’s not acceptable. The burger, nuggets were simple and tasty and hit the notes of ol’ McD’s. Even the buns for the burger were impressively spot on. 🍔
They advertise closing at 10pm, however they wouldn’t take my order at 9:55. Make that make sense. The grocery store closes at 10, however if I walk in at 9:55, I am allowed to shop. Open for business until a certain time is open for business until said time.
I think they pretty much nail what they’re trying to do. But how do they not have their own version of flurries yet? It would be amazing and, unlike McDonalds, theirs could actually work!
This place took me back to my childhood. It's expensive and worth every penny. By far my favorite restaurant I've ever been to.
