This used to be our Thai food spot since the early 2000’s and we didn’t mind the long drive after we moved. But, the last couple of times we’ve been here the food has been disappointing.
The most recent time the sea food soup tasted and smelled so fishy it grossed me out. The Thai iced tea was watery and lacked flavor. The waitress a lady with a bob cut was very rude and aggressive. A male worker was taking his break sleeping on a chair in front of the restrooms, very sad to see and uncomfortable for us as we had to carefully walked passed in and out of the restroom to avoid bumping into him. And they charged $15 extra on our bill, when we asked about it the waitress explained, if I understood correctly as her English wasn’t too clear, it is a California service fee charged on top of the regular tax. An estimated 15% up charge as I added it up. Unfair to customers to have to pay this on top of a tip and still get bad service and food. Not worth my gas or time to drive here anymore 👎🏼
Bad Customer service..you can even say that something was wrong in your order cause they start talking crap about you and laughing.they stare at you the whole time like you are eatingfor free ...let's not even talk about the prices...and now they say cash only with the same price..

A Disappointing Disaster at Ocha Classic on Sunset Boulevard
Ocha Classic, nestled on the bustling strip of Sunset Boulevard, promises an authentic dining experience but delivers a masterclass in frustration and disappointment. From the moment you approach this cramped, cash-only establishment, it’s clear that convenience and customer satisfaction are not on the menu.
First, the wait times are nothing short of egregious. On a recent Thursday evening, I endured a 45-minute wait for a table for Seven, despite the restaurant appearing half-empty through its smudged windows.
The interior is a claustrophobic nightmare. Tables are crammed so tightly together that navigating to your seat feels like an obstacle course. There’s barely room to breathe, let alone enjoy a meal in comfort. Worse, Ocha Classic is shockingly inaccessible. The entrance has a steep step with no ramp, and the narrow aisles make it impossible for anyone with mobility challenges to maneuver. This blatant disregard for handicap compliance is not just inconvenient—it’s inexcusable in 2025.
The menu, while promising an array of traditional dishes, is a parade of overpriced mediocrity. Each dish felt like a calculated insult, with prices that suggest fine dining but portions that scream stinginess. The flavors, when they finally arrived, were unremarkable at best—soggy tempura, bland rice, and fish that tasted like it had seen better days.
Adding to the frustration, the serving ware was in deplorable condition. My plate had a visible chip on the rim, and the teacup I was given had a hairline crack that leaked onto the table. When I pointed this out, the server shrugged and offered no replacement. It’s hard to feel valued as a customer when the restaurant can’t even maintain basic standards of cleanliness and care.
Perhaps the most infuriating aspect of Ocha Classic is its cash-only policy, a relic of the past that feels like a deliberate middle finger to modern diners. In an era of digital payments, forcing customers to scramble for cash—especially with no ATM on-site—is absurdly inconvenient. The faded sign announcing this policy at the counter felt like a final slap in the face after an already dismal experience.
Ocha Classic seems to bank on its Sunset Boulevard address to draw in unsuspecting customers, but don’t be fooled. The long waits, suffocating interior, overpriced and undersized portions, lack of accessibility, damaged dishware, and cash-only nonsense make this restaurant a hard pass. Save your money and your patience for somewhere that actually cares about its patrons.

The squid and clams tasted like soap and were so tough !the fish in the 7 sea soup was so tough like a puck ! The meat in the combination chow mine had a weird taste but the noodles had the same flavor i know . The seafood combo spicy garlic was cold had good flavor but not spicy at all & the fish was hard the same nasty squid one shrimp we love Ochoa but this one I will not be back too I suggest going to the one on Beverly ( was closed that day ) or the original cause the food quality was so disappointing !!! I have been to Ochoa since a child this one is not it !
I've started going here when I was 16, I'm 32 now lol. My favorite Thai food restaurant hands down. Sara and Ana are very kind ladies and have been there since I started going here. I know this option isnt a typical thai option, but the orange chicken is in a league of its own. I can't leave this place without that, the Pad See Ew, combination fried rice, and spicy yellow curry. Never once have I regretted my decision coming here. Recommend this location 10/10 times
Not a good service.
bad service the chinesse that tryina look like a white girl is really racist like if im asking for free food beachhh i pay $70 dollars for her nasty face mad all the time
This is the last time I'm here. They are discriminating against my children because they apparently don't like children, they say they make too much noise, they happen sometimes, or they make too much mess.
This was my second time eating at Ocha, and it was better than the first time. My mother-in-law had been wanting to take us all out, so I thought what better day than Easter Sunday. I loaded up on Asian food until I was ready to pop. It's delicious to say the lease. We had a feast fit for royalty. I loved the Orange Chicken and the Seven Sea Soup was amazing.
The food fell short of expectations and did not justify the $90 I spent. I left feeling dissatisfied.

Disappointing Experience
I recently dined at ocha classic and unfortunately, it was far from a pleasant experience. The first thing that struck me was the soup I ordered; it was overwhelmingly salty and lacked any real flavor. It was as if the chef had forgotten to balance the seasoning, leaving me with a bowl of brine that was nearly inedible.
To make matters worse, the overall service did not help to elevate our meal. The staff seemed indifferent and lacked the warmth that one would hope for when dining out. A simple smile or greeting would have gone a long way in making the experience feel more welcoming, but instead, I felt like I was just another customer to rush through.
Additionally, I noticed that the bowl my soup was served in was chipped, raising concerns about safety and hygiene. It’s disheartening to see such neglect for customers’ well-being, as a chipped bowl can pose a risk while eating.
Overall, my experience at ocha classic was disappointing due to the unappetizing food, lackluster service, and concerns about safety. I hope they can address these issues, as I would love to see them improve. For now, I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a satisfying dining experience.
