I wanted to like Onigiri Sun, but was pretty disappointed. I ordered one onigiri, the $12 ikura. It took too long - at least 15 minutes for a single onigiri despite there only being a couple orders ahead of us. The onigiri itself tasted good, but for the price was skimpy on the ikura. The food is also all wrapped to-go, so the nori was pretty limp. I'll stick to Rice & Nori, unfortunately.
We tried five different onigiri and they were all pretty good. Our favorites were the karaage and snow crab. The rice was nice and soft and seasoned. The onigiri were pretty big and filling.
i would advise against ordering the LA hot dog onigiri combo :( the mustard was so absurdly strong it shot up my nose every bite, i was fighting painful tears the entire meal. i think they’re using the wrong mustard. also, the rice ball was so loose i couldn’t even pick it up i had to eat it totally deconstructed :( definitely just order the classic triangle onigiris, i should go back and give it another shot but it was genuinely an unpleasant experience
