It’s a nice restaurant at the end of the village in Little Tokyo. It’s a lot bigger on the inside than it seems. We went on a very busy day for lunch, when I signed in to the waitlist, we were about 10th on the list, but wait less than 30 mins. Parking is all over the place in Little Tokyo, but it’s as expected, though they do 2hr validation if you parked in the village.
Oomasa has a good mix of Japanese dishes for everyone at a variety of price points, generally on the higher end though. I enjoyed their bento boxes. There’s a variety of them to choose from and they’re well balanced. All come with rice and miso soup. Portions themselves, like most Japanese restaurants are on the smaller side, but it’s enough to fill you up.
We got the ika geso age since it’s normally one of our favorites appetizers at a Japanese restaurant. Crispy and well seasoned. I wish there was more of it. You don’t even need to use the accompanying chipotle mayo sauce, but it’s a welcomed addition
We got the chicken teriyaki and sashimi bento as well as the oomasa special bento box. I really enjoyed their sashimi, all the fish was portioned well, fresh, and delicious.
The teriyaki was a low point. It wasn’t bad by any means, but I wanted it to be crispier. I would recommend getting sauce on the side since it’s heavily layered in it.
Green tea is from a can, not housemade. Beer is on draft.
Service is excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. They’ll check on you at appropriate times. Service was fast, we didn’t have to wait long for anything.

It's decent. The karaage wasn't seasoned. The sushi hand roll set could have been more crisp but the fish was fresh. Unlimited free hot tea is pleasant

Decided to check out OOmasa, even though it is in the tourist trap shopping area of Little Tokyo. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura and Sashimi combo to do a litmus test of how good the food is here. The Sashimi had 2 pieces each of Blue Fin Tuna, Yellow Fin Tuna and Salmon. The Salmon was good, the Blue Fin and Yellow Fin tuna were both lousy. Shrimp Tempura was good. Service was decent. Will not return to OOmasa
This is my go-to sushi house for over twenty years and they never disappoint
The TORO is the soft succulent part of the tuna. It's tuna on steroids and taste nothing like you expect tuna to taste.
This is top of your sushi bucket list.
Salmon roe falls neatly into second favorite ever
Oomasa is across the street from MTA light rail A line little Tokyo / Artist district station

Located in busy Tokyo Village, Los Angeles. This is a great traditional Japanese restaurant, featuring fresh cuts of sashimi and sushi. Wonderful assortment of teishoku menu items, such as the combination tempura and sashimi for $23.50. I highly recommend their chirashi sushi/. Fresh cuts of sashimi over sushi rice with tamago. The nabeyaki udon was also delicious.

Had lunch here with my sister a few weeks ago, first time in Little Tokyo and we loved it. Polite and attentive servers, clean and relaxing environment and food was good! We ordered the chicken Karaage which was delicious and we got 2 plates of sushi that were tasty and filling. This restaurant has my recommendation 👍🏻

Busy corner restaurant, that’s smaller inside than the outside would suggest. The food was great though. The bento boxes are beautifully presented, the tempura are freshly fried.

My friend was about to pass out so she sat by the table outside. Our other friends left temporarily to grab some food and drinks to help her out. While we were waiting on the other friends a staff told us we couldn’t sit at one of their tables. We had to tell them just give us 5 minutes so she can rest to move somewhere else. I don’t know why they wanted to kick us from the tables so badly when there was no one outside and the tables were empty!!!?!? We were going to move anyways and the staff so passive aggressively put out signs that said the tables were for oomasa customers only. A stranger had to step in and give her a drink to help out!!! We were planning on eating there once she felt better but I will never go there. There are plenty of other restaurants nearby so they don’t need our money especially how they treat our friend who was about to black out from her medical situation 😡

My friend was on the verge of passing out from a dizzy spell so she sat at one of the tables outside. One of the staff came out to tell us we can’t be there even though we told them she wasn’t feeling well. After we moved they proceeded to put signs out saying “table for oomasa only”. I understand it’s for their business but my friend literally was about to pass out!! No compassion only greedy for money! She wasn’t having a medical situation so we just needed a moment for our friend to feel better so we can relocate.
