I have been a regular customer of this establishment since its days as Kung Ho Dong. Despite its closure for renovations and rebranding, I continue to frequent the restaurant almost weekly. Opting for a Tuesday night visit due to its typically not busy, I anticipated a smoother seating process. However, I found that the host, who also serves as the manager, failed to meet professional standards during my recent visits. Regrettably, his demeanor lacked a willingness to assist our family, and his behavior was unbecoming, seeming to disregard our concerns. As the manager of the restaurant, such conduct is disconcerting and unexpected.

Origin KBBQ replaced Baekjeong in the Chapman plaza. I think someone said it's owned by the same hospitality group that owns Quarters. Service was great - All the servers were friendly and cooked the meats well. Restaurant is new and clean, but very standard in terms of KBBQ joints around Ktown. + Shikhye rice slush 5/5: This slush is SO good but also very sweet. I would totally drive here just to get this to-go. + Origin special set 3/5: Ordered the Special Set to try the garlic seasoned short rib, but it didn't taste that different than non-seasoned ones. We also got a ton of thinly sliced pork belly compared to the brisket. I don't eat pork so I didn't eat any. Ribeye patty was also not our favorite as it was so salty. We strongly suspect that it's just a mish mash of old meats that they wanted to get rid of lol. The conclusion is that meat quality is extremely mid at Origin. I liked the big sizzling plate of corn cheese and steamed egg, but I didn't really cared for the brisket soybean paste hot pot with noodles.

The original Baekjeong location has now changed to Origin Korean BBQ. The meat quality is excellent, and the barbecue is expertly done. Service was quick, and the prices are fair. The only downside is the buckwheat noodles; they're too tough in texture . Overall, I'm satisfied and definitely plan to return.

Located in the old Kang Ho Dong space in Chapman plaza, Origin Korean BBQ is newly open with a dark hued minimalist decor and tables aimed to seat larger parties. Ordered the Beef set $95, which came with chadol beef brisket, deung sheem prime rib eye, and dduk galbi marinated beef patty. Along with the standard ban chan, expect the corn cheese, steamed egg, and ramyun dwen jang jjigae soy bean paste stew. Meal was standard. Service was great as meat was grilled and grills were changed in a timely manner and without being asked. Parking is a challenge in the area so expect to pay anywhere from $10-$20 during the weekdays for the lot.

The food was excellent and plenty, service is also top notch! I like how thin their pork belly is. The meat quality is superb. I love K BBQ and have been to many places in LA and OC and I will say this place is one of the top ones.

This restaurant is a dump for lack of better words. I used to like it better when it was Kang Ho Dong Baekjeon because though the attitude of the staff even then sucked but at least the food was good. Joseph on the front desk is still there and his attitude and demeanor towards customers is getting worse as he's getting more seniority there. Overall, I wish I had an opportunity to give them a 0 star but unfortunately 1 is the lowest I can go. I would tell you that Quarters across the way is so much better with people so much nicer and the food so much tastier! Stay away from this place as it is a waste of money!

Food is great. Service is great. The only thing that killed the vibe is the music they play. Sounds like some freaky p diddy vibes and that's not the move. But service and food is bomb af. Keep doing what you doing just get a new dj or don't play music at all.

Origin, Korean barbecue was a pleasant surprise. I was pleased at the amount of food that came with this beef set. The service was good because they did everything almost for you and it was cool to see that a bunch of people were willing to wait in line for so long for such great food. I can tell you for sure that the food was worth it. Only thing I wish was that it was a little cheaper.

Had to check this place out since it replaced the iconic Baekjeong- definitely going to be a new hot spot! We went on a weekday night for dinner when we crossed pass and saw a wait so thought we'd check it out. The origin special combo was a really great deal- with both beef and their special pork belly to try. We really enjoyed the variety of sides they had and they were all very high quality- with sesame leaves, lettuce, potatoes, corn cheese, kimchi, radish, green onions, literally so much more!! The ramen at the end was my favorite part and so good. Since it just opened, it's definitely picking up the pace and was very hectic inside. It takes awhile to get your food cooking/sides but definitely worth the try!!!

Maybe I am being tough.. but I have had way better Korean bbq other places in LA. And they really wanted to get you in and get you out. I understand the place is busy and popping. But would I go back, not really. Too many spots to try.

With so many different KBBQ options in LA, it can be hard to decide where to go - but if you're looking for authentic, high quality KBBQ with a cute/aesthetic ambiance, ORIGIN is the place to go! My fiance and I ordered the ORIGIN Special Set, which came with corn cheese, steamed egg, beef brisket soybean paste hotpot with ramen, seasoned boneless short ribs, beef briskey, premium pork belly, and the marinated beef galbi patty (all of which was cooked over a charcoal grill). All of the meat was extremely tender and high quality and it was the perfect amount of food for the two of us; we left super satisfied but not too full. Service was also great and they helped us cook/cut all of our meats. Would highly recommend coming here on a celebratory night out with friends or for a date night!

When we came to the restaurant and ask for a table, we were told to wait, thinking he'll be right back. We stayed standing at the door for almost 10 minutes before he came back to seat us. Kalbi was very tough and chewy and they refused to take back our order. Pork belly was very thin and as thin as bacon! Banshan is just ok, with not much variety, we were served only 6. We asked for more regular kimchi and they brought radish kimchee instead. We have experienced much better food at several restaurants in this area. We are never coming back to this restaurant again. Meat is of poor quality. Too bad the place looks very nice but food is awful!

As others have mentioned, origin kbbq took over baekjong. I was a little skeptical at first to try it but I glad I did. The quality of the meet is just as good or maybe even a little better than baekjong. The service and servers were fast and tentative. I got the beef combo and it included steamed egg, corn cheese and beef soybean soup ramen. They also cook the meat for you ! 10/10 my new favorite kbbq spot in k-town.
