I wanted to wait a month before I wrote this review .This was not the experience I was hoping for for our 25th anniversary. My wife and I sadly celebrated this occasion with a shockingly under inspired meal.Am I crazy? You can’t have five fish courses in a row!By the third serving, I wanted some meat or fish or lamb or chicken or anything besides another piece of fish.I did not see a lead chef in the kitchen, trying to prepare anything EXTRAORDINARY for a $500 meal.Very uncreative. What was I expecting? The French laundry?Apparently.I have never been to a tasting menu restaurant and really expected a special journey…-Not nearly the case.I believe the owner/chef was next-door, tending to his other Mexican restaurant. Our Dinner:CaviarSalmon courseTrout courseCod courseSardine course…And another fish course ( which escapes me) - by that by this time I was about to hurl..Apparently, I’m not sophisticated enough for the Orsa and Winston experience.Or to be bombarded by fish for every course. And for the record, I love fish. When I explained to the French headwaiter that I was literally “fished out”, he basically shrugged it off.No explanation no alternative plate just a nice big fat check at the end.The desert was a chocolate soufflé of some sort?Luke warm piece of chewy bland chocolate something in a soufflé cup.Awful. I mean, if you’ve ever had a real soufflé.I really hated to say that but it’s true. For the record, my wife is from Sardinia, I am from New York, and we have traveled the world a bit and experienced some pretty incredible meals.…this was far from one of them, and sadly I feel like I’ve been robbed. But both my family and my wife’s family were in the Restaurant business. That doesn’t make me a critic, I know, but what it does make me, is fully aware of what it takes to provide the experience that I was looking for on this occasion.I don’t know that Thomas Keller would’ve let things slip out of his control like they did here.IF THE OWNER WANTS TO INVITE ME BACK TO EXPERIENCE SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY I WILL UPDATE THIS REVIEW PROMPTLY.I’m here Joe.Looking forward to your response.Based on reviews I am really hoping that this was just an anomaly of an evening.I want you to be your best.-that is the truth.I want you to be deserving of your Michelin rating.Frederick CarrionI believe our reservation was around February 9 ‘24

Delicious evening. Many extra courses in the tasting menu, lots of extra black truffles on many dishes. Both of the servers were super knowledgeable and friendly. The table next to us was a loud couple with a dude on his phone a lot and that was the single negative part of our evening. An amazing birthday experience. Thanks, guys!

A chic Michelin 1star restaurant in DTLA. Menu is very simple but you’d be surprised by how many “gifts/dishes” chef send you. You’ll end up having way more than what’s indicated on the menu. Definitely full after the meal. All ingredients are fresh and delicious. Not fishy at all. Ingredients compliment each other and create a beautiful harmony. I recommend adding the seafood porridge. It’s savory and delicious. 1 serving can be shared between 2 people.Services is to the standard. Seat arrangements are comfortable and provide enough privacy for each table.

Good but a little underwhelming for a Michelin star. Exceptional quality of ingredients, but sometimes uninspired composition. Wine pairings were certainly unique, and happily largely organic, though not always obviously well-matched. Be aware the restaurant is pescatarian, which is not overtly stated on the website or otherwise.

The food was beautiful in every way, flavor, variety and presentation. The open kitchen was quiet. The Chef is a creative genius and Romain who served us spoke with his heart and his brain. He was such a compliment to the Chefs creations, and they clearly have a symbiotic relationship. The wine pairings were perfection. The price is accessible. I highly recommend this night out for foodies and those who want to celebrate food and beverage and any special occasion. All four of us left with smiles! The perfect night out.

Dishes with price–performance ratio is normal. I really not recommend this restaurant, the only thing I can do is make pics looks gud.

The food was all exceptional. We did the Valentine's special menu and they not only made us feel taken care of, the sweets were just about the greatest flavor combinations I've ever experienced.

Amazing prix fixe experience. Small, intimate space that gives individualized service. We ordered the standard 5-course meal, but they threw in a few extras that were fantastic. They also accommodated for gluten sensitivity, which I was very appreciative of. The plates are small, but we left with very full stomachs. Nice wine and beer selection. Would definitely come back to experience this again!

Wine pairings were exceptional, which makes sense with such a fun and brilliant sommelier/waiter. We had a wonderful time, and they were so kind with the news of our engagement as well.

Exceptional and very filling seafood focused tasting menu! My sister and I dined here to celebrate her birthday. The tasting menu has 5 courses and we also opted to get the add on seafood porridge. They ended up serving us 4+ extra courses as well so you get plenty of food! They started off with a warm savory soup with caviar. We then had a yellowtail fish with snow peas and okra. Our next course was dungeness crab with mandarin, pear persimmon, avocado, and parmesan. This was definitely one of the standouts for us! We were then served an extra course of Sacramento caught sturgeon with purple sweet potato. The next was a butternut squash ravioli with 3 cheeses and 2 types of truffle, which was another favorite! This was followed up with an extra course of Japanese needle fish with an asparagus broccoli veggie crossover and yuzu butter. The satsuki rice seafood porridge followed after. I wouldn't say it's necessary to get this dish if you're concerned about being hungry after. We enjoyed the rice porridge itself but weren't huge fans of most of the seafood in the porridge. The next course was a New Zealand fish with breakfast radish and trumpet mushrooms. An extra course of strawberry cornbread followed, which was excellent, and we finished off with a chocolate ganache with marscapone, poached pear, and caramel. Overall fantastic and delicious meal at an affordable price for a Michelin star restaurant and would highly recommend!

I hate to complain as I know people work hard to provide a good experience, but I left the restaurant a bit let down. The service was mediocre at best. We were not greeted upon entering as there was no host or host stand, nor thanked for our business while on our way out. Our preference of prix fixe option (omakase or vegetarian) was not taken before the first course suddenly arrived. Our wine order was taken but the wine did not come out until three second course. We were not asked if we wanted the supplemental course, which we did, so I had to interrupt service to order it. When I was out of wine, the server offered more to which I said, “yes,” and then he clearly forgot about it until the final course came. So there was about an 10 min wait after the second glass of wine was ordered. Overall the food was good, not great. Then the 20% service charge came, which was disclosed on the menu as “A 20% service charge will be added to the final bill.” On the bill it was now stated that the 20% does not cover gratuity, but instead as a way to pay their employees a fair wage. This is not okay in a fine dining setting. You should just increase your prix fixe price to reflect this 20%! So on top of the mediocre service and good, but not great food, and the cost that would reflect a two Michelin restaurant, I'm not so sure I would ever return. I had such high hopes...

Delicious! The tasting menu we were treated to was a seafood feast with familiar and surprising Asian & Italian flavors. Standouts were the sturgeon, squid ink ravioli, and who-knows-how-many greens salad that highlighted chicory and ice plant! The chef even made us several extra dishes. Intimate setting and attentive service contibuted to a memorable birthday out. No need for a burger after - this is real food that's thoughtfully elevated;) We're dreaming about next time!
