One of my favorite restaurants in LA. The food is consistently great, the bar program is creative, the service is friendly, and the vibe is chill and fun (especially on the patio and at the bar). Unlike almost all restaurants serving small plates they do not make you order everything at once or rush out the food, so meals here feel luxuriously relaxed.You can't really go wrong with the menu but in particular do not miss the boquerones y mantequilla, which is a brilliant dish.
Tried the tasting menu at the recommendation of the waiter and it was absolutely worth it. Six courses including dessert. Well balanced flavors, good mix of preparation (grilled, fried, etc), and best octopus we’ve ever had. We were sat in the back next to the wine shelves, which was ideal for a quieter dining experience on the weekend. Seems like a good place to bring up to six people. Plenty of parking lots nearby as well.
I live in Highland Park and tried Otono for the first time yesterday. The vibe in the restaurant is amazing, cocktails and food were really great. I was disappointed by the service. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted, and I had to initiate that I had a reservation there. I had questions about the menu and had to flag down the server and after 2 questions, they walked away but I hadn't finished asking my questions. I had to flag them for water, etc. I really want Otono...
