this place is OK, just not my vibe. the service is kinda meh.. i think they're the victims of having predominantly local regulars. it's not first timers friendly the coffee is ok, same goes for the food. would not come here again, though there's a real shortage of decent cafés in this area, still would recommend to look elsewhere if you're a coffee or food snob. otherwise enjoy your visit here.
live in the neighborhood and i'd come here more often if the energy from the baristas wasn't so bad lol it's soooo off-putting - the coffee is just *fine* and the food is over-priced, but great *architecturally* good place to work
I wonder if training of staff includes how to make an unwelcoming scowl. There is nothing too unique about their coffee but I love the atmosphere of this space. I haven't lived in LA for a bit so was glad this place was still here. After experiencing this 'attitude' I know I will not need to make a pilgrimage back here when I get back to LA.
The brioche French toast was regular bread not fluffy at all the service was ok could be better
delish! ( + a doublehigh interior)
I’m adding this to my fav food places I went on Tuesday And came back again on Thursday. The food and the atmosphere was so good. I had the Salmon Niçoise salad that thing was packed with so much flavor I didn’t even need the dressing. High wooden ceilings make this a beautifully aesthetic place to look at that has great food
I live across the street and went here every day for a year, and they don't even say hi to me. Started seriously bumming me out to be honest.
I go to Mad Lab now. The walk is farther and there's less on the menu but at least those people are human beings.
The owner came to my table and touched my shoulder without my consent and the referenced the $5.85 muffin I bought saying she didn't allow outside food. When I corrected her, she touched me again with a confused apology and I had to ask her to stop touching me. I've been here several times but don't think I'll return after this bizarre interaction. The muffin wasn't great either.

Nice place. Right next to The Mint. I had the lentil soup that an employee recommended, and it was excellent.

I go here a few times a week. Solo to work or with my kids for breakfast. It’s great for both.

The establishment provides a pleasant ambiance for breakfast and coffee consumption. The quality of the food was satisfactory. However, I encountered an issue with the cashier's demeanor, which lacked friendliness. A simple smile would have enhanced the overall experience.

$16 for this? Disappointing.
Hands down, some of the best brunch food I’ve had recently! They use the freshest ingredients and make sure each dish is done the right way. The menu offers a wide variety of options, and everything we tried was delicious. The shakshuka and Avocado toast was especially memorable. Must try!
I can’t say enough good things about the service at Paper or Plastik. The staff is incredibly accommodating for minor changes and goes the extra mile to ensure guests are happy. I’ve been to many similar cafes in LA, but this one truly stands out. The attention to detail and commitment to guest service set it apart from the rest!
I want to thank Max for going above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was perfect. His genuine hospitality and impeccable service made all the difference.
