**Papillon International Bakery** is a true hidden gem that brings the comforting, old-world charm of Armenian and Eastern European baking to the heart of Los Angeles. The moment you step inside, the air is filled with the rich scent of freshly baked dough, warm butter, and sweet cream a scent that instantly wraps around you like a hug. The space itself is simple and unpretentious, the kind of neighborhood bakery where the focus is entirely on the food. Behind the counter, trays of golden, flaky pastries and breads catch your eye everything from savory meat-filled perashki to sugar-dusted ponchiks (Armenian doughnuts) oozing with creamy custard. Each item is made fresh daily, and the staff often prepare many of the pastries to order, ensuring they’re handed to you piping hot and perfectly crisp. The **ponchik** is a must-try light, airy, and filled with smooth vanilla cream that feels both decadent and comforting. The **meat perashki**, on the other hand, showcase the bakery’s savory side: tender dough enclosing a rich, flavorful filling that’s satisfying without being heavy. The **lahmajoun** (Armenian pizza) and **boreks** filled with cheese, spinach, or potato are local favorites, ideal for a quick lunch or snack.

What makes Papillon stand out isn’t just the quality of its food but the authenticity behind it. Every bite feels like a taste of home cooking hearty, handmade, and deeply satisfying. The staff are warm and genuine, often offering recommendations or a sample of something new, and the atmosphere feels like a slice of community life where regulars are greeted by name. Prices are refreshingly fair, especially considering the craftsmanship and freshness; you can easily leave with a box full of pastries for under twenty dollars. It’s worth noting that the pastries are best enjoyed fresh the texture and flavor are at their peak right out of the fryer or oven so try to go earlier in the day if you can. While Papillon isn’t a fancy patisserie with glossy cakes and sleek displays, it doesn’t need to be. Its charm lies in its simplicity, in the way it honors traditional recipes passed down through generations. Whether you’re grabbing a quick snack, exploring Armenian flavors for the first time, or simply craving something warm and made with love, **Papillon International Bakery** delivers every single time. It’s one of those rare places where every bite tells a story one of heritage, craftsmanship, and the simple joy of freshly baked comfort food.

I always loved this place but now even more. My baby had some ponchik and she loved them then had an absolute sugar rush lol I would say 1000/10 but don’t give them to a toddler 😂

One star is a lot of rating, the food in this place is terrible, it tastes like broken food, it smells bad, it's not fresh at all, and when you go to return it they tell you that it's not complete that you bit it, that's a joke how can I know if it tastes bad without trying it? They don't return the money for selling broken food, what a disappointment, don't eat in this place unless you want to get sick with vomiting.

Love this bakery. My favourites are perashki and lakhmajun

They only have 1 a single dessert, pastry, cake by the piece. Custard Napoleon which was disappointing. The custard creme was fine, not creamy rich or vanilla flavored. More like pudding than decadent creme patisserie. And the layers of puff pastry were soggy and flavorless.
There were lots of cakes, pastry, and dessert but they were only available by the whole cake, only for a serving for 10 plus.
