Food is great, a good sized portion, flavorful and not expensive, easy to find a spot to dine in.

Breakfast experience. The only things they got right were the sweet potato porridge and soy milk.

The chives pocket was tasteless. Nothing like the ones you get in SGV. And the fermented soy bean paste was way too salty.

The daikon cake was edible. Too much flour used. You were not getting the “light” texture. Too dense and borderline bland as well.

The flavor profile was all over the place, and it didn’t complement the food at all. It wasn’t inedible, but it definitely wasn’t nice.

Pine & Crane has a stylish, modern vibe and a menu that puts a fresh spin on classic Taiwanese and Chinese dishes. The ingredients taste fresh, and the presentation is solid. I really enjoyed the Dan Dan noodles and the Mapo Tofu —both had great texture and flavor.

That said, the experience didn’t totally live up to the hype. The service was friendly but slow, and a couple of dishes, like the hot and sour soup and beef noodle soup lacked the boldness and heat I expected. Portion sizes felt a bit small for the price, especially given the more casual, order-at-the-counter setup.

Overall, it’s a decent spot if you’re in the mood for something light and modern, but it didn’t quite wow me. Worth trying once, but not sure I’d rush back.

Wonderful atmosphere, simple shareable dishes, great bang for your buck! A welcome surprise in the very pricy world of modern LA.

Giving a five stars is because it’s a Taiwanese restaurant. Happy to taste some home flavor!

It was my first time visit this restaurant in the morning. I ordered pan fried pork buns, you tiao, iced sweetened soy milk, and a fan tuan to go. I highly recommend fan tuan because the taste is actually the same in Taiwan. For pork buns, not much flavorful. The soy milk is pretty good actually!

I will come by lunch or dinner time to try different menus!

Went back to try the lunch menu. Ordered a won ton soup and a beef noodle soup. I believe won ton soup with sea weed and some pepper would be better! As for the beef noodle soup, three huge beaf with great soup, better have the noodles with the soup to get more flavor!

Willing to try the other dishes on the menu.

I’ve been to this spot about three times and all times it’s been a great spot to be satisfied for lunch/dinner.

My most recent order I got their taro milk tea boba with egg pudding and red bean. It was a solid drink and very filling.

I’ve had their Taiwanese sausage to mix with their minced pork on rice. The sausage was excellent but I wasn’t a fan of the minced pork. The beef roll was a solid meal also with great flavors. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was my favorite appetizer and it was cooked/seasoned perfectly.

Their pork belly clamshell bun was also a great appetizer to have. Their Dan dan noodles was really delicious too along with their hot & sour soup. As for dessert I think the forbidden rice pudding was way better than the grass jelly dessert. The forbidden rice pudding is my favorite meal there.

I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items. Parking can be tricky but worth the trip.

Must get the Dan Dan noodles, Crispy Rice Cakes & Mushrooms, Mapo Tofu. Mapo Tofu was a bit spicy but large portion. Recommend a family style dining experience, to share all the different delicious dishes. Lunch can be busy during lunch business hours. A good spot to bring a date.

Mostly small plates and everything is amazing! We ordered a variety of things from each section of their menu and was blown away. You order everything at the counter and seat yourself. They bring everything to you as it’s ready and the service is crazy fast. Our favorites were the shrimp wontons and the clamshell buns.
