The food here is SO GOOD - being all my non-vegan family and friends here and everyone has a quality meal. One drawback is the place is pretty loud inside.
Food was lovely, but for the quality and portion size, it's a little pricey. I've had fare just as delicious for half the cost. Restaurant is gorgeous and might be worth the price to eat there, but since we got takeout, it wasn't really worth it.
Very interesting and unusual large portion salads. The Keylime cheesecake melts in your mouth. Very friendly and professional service. Excellent selection of sushi . #Veganuary
My wife and I went there for Christmas dinner. We had the holiday prix fixe menu. The cost per person was $65 and was well worth it. Highly recommended! Updated from previous review on 2024-12-25
I found the Brentwood Planta So superior to the Marina del Rey branch in every way, food, service, ambience. Granted the Marina del Rey branch is good for out of town guest because it is right on the water and has a beautiful view however I have always found the service lacking there and have not been impressed with the food whereas we had a magnificent dinner here. I am embarrassed to say that I was so caught up in the conversation that I forgot to take photographs of the main meal which included the best Caesar salad I have had in ages, sushi, and the "steak". All of it was delicious, it is not cheap here, the cocktails are about $17 and the meals start at that price but it is worth it.
Absolutely delicious! Very creative and artistic plates and recipes. We love it!

I came here during the opening week and the service was terrible but didn’t want to review them to give them a break.
I came back a second time to give them a chance and we entered around 5:50 pm and the hostess started to help a girl who came before us who was ordering a cup of sushi rice to go. The hostess tried to play with the iPad for 5 minutes and then disappeared to the back and never came back- no “I’ll be with you guys in a minute” or any acknowledgement at all.
Missing Sushi - now vegan

Dined at a different Planta several years back, but this seemed so much better
The food is incredible!! We loved everything that we ordered. The cocktails are great too! Staff was friendly and service was prompt. Can't wait until we come back here!

The food, ambiance, and service were fantastic! It’s probably the best vegan sushi I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried a lot. However, the non-sushi dish we tried was a bit bland. The candlelights create a beautifully romantic atmosphere, making it perfect for an intimate dinner. If that’s what you’re looking for, this is the place to be!

This was quite possibly the strangest restaurant experience of our lives, and believe me, we've had our fair share of strange. Imagine this: a menu filled with tantalizing descriptions, but when the food arrived, it looked like a weird experiment gone wrong. Case in point—the crispy mushroom cornbread waffle with scallion and hot agave. Now, call me old-fashioned, but when I think of cornbread, I don’t expect it to have whole kernels of corn staring back at me. And the "crispy mushroom" that was supposed to imitate chick'n? Let's just say, it was more "calamari gone rogue" than anything resembling a chicken.
Entering the restaurant, we should've known something was off. There were barely five other customers in a place we had to make reservations for. But, like the brave explorers of the unknown that we are, we sat down. The host was wonderfully welcoming, which lulled us into a false sense of security. Then, like a cruel joke, the wait staff took an eternity just to pour water and take our order. But hey, we’re adventurous! We thought, "Let’s try the vegan Chick'n and waffles; it can't be that bad." Oh, how naïve we were.
We've had vegan Chick'n and waffles at other places, and they were inventive yet delicious. But here? Creativity clearly fought with execution and lost miserably. Some dishes we tried were borderline okay. The bang bang broccoli? Not bad. The 1,000-layer crispy potatoes? Ranked second by our group, but they could’ve used some serious flavor. Then there was the crispy chick'n sandwich. Let’s just say, it felt like biting into a consistency nightmare. We’re not fussy eaters; we'll eat anything vegan as long as it's done well. But it better be good if I’m forking over $200 for brunch. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
And don’t even get me started on the drinks. I ordered an Aperol spritz, expecting a refreshing burst of citrus. What I got was a watered-down disappointment in a glass.
In conclusion, save your money. I’d recommend a different vegan restaurant where they actually take the time to get the dishes right instead of this place that seems to think shortcuts and bizarre presentations will fool anyone.

The ambiance is fantastic, with a gorgeous interior and attentive service. It has the feel of a high-end establishment without any pretense. The menu offers a great variety; both the poke bowl and Hawaiian pizza I tried were exceptional. Sometimes when a restaurant tries to be all things for all tastes, it ends up being mediocre at everything but this is NOT the case with Planta. They clearly take their culinary credibility seriously and do not skimp on quality. The mocktail selection is also pretty good! I'm excited to go back and try something for dessert or Happy Hour. This is definitely one of the best vegan/vegetarian restaurants I’ve experienced in LA. Don’t miss it!
Dietary restrictions: The servers will ask about dietary restrictions and/or allergies before they take your order so you can be well aware of any issues! I love how thoughtful that is. It can be awkward to ask about allergies. :(
