Faboulous baked goods, great chef in the kitchen, some unusual delightful special breakfasts + lunches, excruciatingly noisy due to bad acoustics when busy.
2025: as good as ever, good coffee + espresso, great baked goods, good breads, outside seating, the take out salads are overpriced and not that interesting, always helpful staff. too bad they close for food at 3:oo. owner Hans has a couple of local high price restaurants: Janes in the MDR. good though.
Went in today and decided to sit inside, biggest mistake I’ve ever made! I was looking for a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy my food but that was a disaster. As soon as I sat down there was an employee that was very passive aggressive towards a lady that was expressing how she did not like her food and his responds was a little rude didn’t offer to make it better all he said was oh what’s wrong with it for future reference lol I was floored felt so bad for her. Then he just wouldn’t stop talking about politics, news reports and other things super loud like come on dude let people enjoy their food in peace! Never going back there!

There is passion here. One of the best breakfast cafes I have ever been too in Los Angeles. This place hits on every level and is my new go to spot.

I got a pretzel croissant sandwich, and my wife got a Rockenwagner (2 Scrambled Eggs, 2 Buttermilk Pancakes, sausage), and both were great. Will definitely come back!

The lox Danish might be my new favorite breakfast item! The blueberry muffin was melt in your mouth, and the heirloom tomato benedict inspirational. On top of fantastic food, all the staff were delightful.

As a German living in Texas and not having access to traditional German baked goods, this was heaven! The Bretzel tastes exactly like in Germany and the Croissants are even better. Good job to Herr Röckenwagner!

Rude, unfriendly cashier. He ignored us when we came in, then was busy in a conversation with his friend, no help with the pastries, no thank you after we paid. The pretzel bun was hard, the pastry not special, nothing German/Austrian about this bakery, at least the service could have been better.
