There are a lot of great Japanese restaurants in the Bay Area, and Ramen Champ is no exception, but this one really feels like a place you’ll find in a suburb in Japan. IYKYK

Brah honest truth by far best ramen I've had in mainland since having really bomb ones in Japan when I was still in the Marine Corps. Hands down the best! Got their Tonkatsu Tonkatsu ramen and the overall broth, to the noodles, and the katsu itself was just so so good. Also got Tonkatsu curry and portion is great for the price and Katsu again just amazing. Highly recommend!

I just had the best ramen I’ve tried in San Jose. The habanero tonkotsu ramen was incredible....perfect SPICE🔥 and flavor....and the karaage chicken was delicious. Not sure how this place is only at 4.4 stars, but I’m honestly fine with it… keeps the wait time shorter for me. Definitely some of the tastiest ramen around.

Had the ramen tonkatsu. Broth was good. They served it with thin noodle, which tasted like angel hair pasta. The meat was dry. The eggs was cold inside. Over priced. Giving this place 2 stars and probably won’t come back again.

This is a popular ramen place, so there was a bit of a wait when I came for a Sunday lunch, but it wasn't too bad (15 minutes).

They have the menu QR code on the utensil holder. You can order and pay online or ask a server to take your order. You can customize your ramen (use the QR code to see all your options).

* Tonkotsu Ramen 5/5 - I usually get Miso Ramen, but I heard it can be salty here, so I got Tonkotsu instead. I got thick noodles instead of thin and that was a great choice. The noodles had a good bite, slightly firm, and a nice flavor. The pork broth was flavorful, not salty, and not fatty. The chasu pork was a thicker cut, but very tender. The kikurage mushroom added a crunchy texture, and hey, anything to get my vegetables in. Overall, the ramen was tasty and I enjoyed it.

I love Miso Ramen, but the flavor of the broth and pork at this place is not for me.

Ramen was good.

It’s one of those restaurants where there’s QR code at each table where you can order and pay from.

Delicious dine in and take out!
They've expanded and have lots of seating now which is nice, as it was quite limited in seating prior. The rice bowls and ramen and sides are all yummy! 😋

We tried champ two times back when it first opened, but the ramen was too salty for us and the big noodle was and uncook... So it's been a while since we are back again this week. It's nice to see the restaurant expand next door to have more seating. My son tried tonkotsu, and the borth was good, not too salty. My husband tried the shoyu ramen and the surface of the broth was ok but toward the bottom of his bow it was salty. My daughter tried the soupless ramen, and her big noodle was still hard but doable, and similar to my husband situation, her noodle was salty toward the bottom of the bow , yes even for the dry noodle. In the 3 ramen we tried, we like the tonkotsu . We also tried their teriyaki chicken karaage and some of the pieces with too much sauce also taste too salty for us. The fried gyoza was not bad. We like the tokoyaki appetizer best. In general, the food seems improved, the portion is generous, less salty this time , but still pretty salty for us. If you don't like food too salty, I recommend to tell the staff to see if they can adjust the salt level. I think they can also improve on cooking the noodle too. The soft noodle to me was missing the tender, chewy, crunchy of the ramen I try at other store before. I think it's more like the type or brand of noodle they use. The big noodle need to cook to the right amount of softness and chewy but not hard. In general, since we have better the experience this time, I think we'll come back to try other items.

The price may be high (Miso Ramen for $15-16 in 2025), but they have extra noodles for $2.50, so that helps hungry people. Also, give you generous amount of soup, that is impressive as many other ramen places give you very little soup to enjoy extra noodles if you are hungry. Overall wonderful ramen place. Great taste and spacious floor for big group.

Absolutely incredible experience. I came on a Wednesday early afternoon and truly loved the food. I saw it can get busy at times on reviews, which is a great sign for any establishment, so we came during the earlier part of the day and Had no issues getting seated and eating in a timely manner. Customer service was extremely professional and polite. I plan on coming every week. From the noodles to the meat and the broth/soup every part of the dish was enjoyable. Can’t wait to come back. 10/10 or 5 star food experience. Thank you again.
