I visit this place at least once a month for the curry rice and karage chicken. Good food.

Out of all the ramen places around the Bay Area, I most disappointed with the ramen at Ramen Champ. Ordered the Miso, Tonkotsu and Buta and the broth is SO sweet, feels like someone dump a bunch of sugar in it. Order on the app and pay before you place the order. Automatic 18% gratuity is added. So order yourself, they bring you the food and that’s it and you’re charged the gratuity no matter you like your food or tbe service.

Nice little cozy Ramen place. Love the atmosphere! Chicken karaage was juicy as always. As for ramen, the broth was a bit too salty for my taste and noodles were a bit hard to chew. Decent portion though. Will try again later for other dishes on the menu.BTW, don’t like the fact that you pay up front (including tips) when you order.

It’s my 3rd time eating at Ramen Champ and I didn’t want to review until I was sure of the quality and consistency of the shop. And to my surprise they blew me out of the park. 2months in between each time I ate here. I tried the buta max, shio yuzu, and the shoyu ramen. The amount of food is perfect for the price. 15 for the shoyu and shio and 22 for the Buta max (really big portion). The karaage is super crunchy and flavored well. The takoyaki has alot of stuff on it that mixed well, and the octopus inside was not sparce. The food was served in 15 mins (I was with 5 people). It was fresh and hot. The servers were attentive and nice on all times I went. The food was really great! Broth was light for the shio yuzu, creamy for the buta, and very balanced for the shoyu. It also wasn’t super salty, it was just right. They had a lot of beer choices as well with many being local brews too. I also love that fact that this is the only Authentic Ramen shop in South San Jose except for the really expensive ramen resto in Oakridge mall.10/10 food10/10 price10/10 ambiance10/10 servers

Found this place while searching for Jiro style ramen. This is the only spot that showed up, so we drove a long way for it. The Buta Max was excellent with lots of garlic and handmade noodles. We also ordered tonkatsu ramen for the kids since the Jiro style would be too challenging. I thought the tonkatsu ramen was superior to more famous places in the area. They do modify it to include large pieces of pork (from their Jiro style ramen), instead of the paper thin chashu, and I've seen reviews complaining about this. Not an issue for us. Also ordered takoyaki based on reviews, and they were definitely good. Their katsu rice plate was solid as well. Plenty of Japanese customers, so it was interesting that one of the servers had a T-shirt that said "Sorry, I don't speak Japanese." Will be going back for sure.

My Japanese friend recommended Ramen Champ, so we went together. I ordered the Buta Max XL. This was a loaded ramen and I almost felt the noodles were bottomless. I just kept eating and eating, and I even had plenty to take home for the next day. The broth was unique in that it had garlic, lots of bean sprouts. The noodles were definitely fresh and homemade-- just the perfect amount of chewiness.Service was just fine. I think that it was a busy night. The restaurant is smaller and intimate, just like in Japan, so there are few seats, so we waited for about 10 minutes.Highly recommend it here and trying the buta ramen.
