The other day I was in Little Tokyo and seriously craving onigiri—it brought me back to my trip to Japan where I basically lived off them. I’m so glad I found this spot because it’s now officially one of my favorites!

I tried the spicy mayo, the lobster with shrimp, and a couple of hand rolls—everything was amazing. So fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. I even went back for seconds because I couldn’t get enough!

I also tried the musubi, and it was just as good—the sauce and flavor were on point. I 100% recommend this place if you’re in the area and craving something authentic, delicious, and satisfying.

If I can find parking nearby, I will always stop by when I'm in the area.

This is by-far my favorite onigiri spot in the Los Angeles area. I am Japanese and real ones know Jichan's is formerly the best spot. This place serves yummy authentic onigiri with fresh rice. The servings are well worth the price -one onigiri is less than $5 if I recall correctly. I was brought here by a friend and now whenever I visit little tokyo I have to bring my friends to pay a visit. The atmosphere is very busy, although if you can snag a table I love to devour my umeboshi onigiri, use the bathroom real quick, and go on my way exploring!

Dietary restrictions: My friend is allergic to eggs and was able to have the umeboshi onigiri -just rice, seaweed, and umeboshi which is pickled plum.

Do not waste your money here. It is NASTY AND GROSS. The rice is dry, the food is ill prepared. You will order one thing and get another. Just save your money. Not worth it.

I am so glad I stumbled upon this restaurant during my trip to LA. My friends and I were looking for food to bring back to the hotel and I was looking for Onigiris in the Japanese supermarket nearby but they didn't look fresh. However, I saw Rice & Nori after walking out of the supermarket and immediately got excited. I went in and ordered the Spicy Lobster Shrimp Onigiri, Beef Sukiyaki Onigiri, and the Spicy tuna Hand Roll. I couldn't wait to go back to the hotel to try it out because the gentleman showed me the food before packaging it for take out and it looked amazing. It wasn't busy on a Tuesday night and the food was ready within 5 minutes.

All the items were pleasant to eat. My favorite was the Beef Sukiyaki Onigiri because it was the most flavorful. The sweetness and the sesame oil of the beef shined through. The Spicy Lobster Shrimp Onigiri was good too. It was simple but the mayo and rice complimented the slight sweetness and saltiness seafood flavors well. The Spicy Tuna hand roll was okay. I didn't really taste any spicy flavors and I don't think my taste buds are insensitive to spice. I denied the soy sauce the gentleman offered me because I thought it would be flavorful enough by itself but I wish I took it. But don't mistake this for it being bad. It probably would have been pretty good with soy sauce and maybe some wasabi.

Overall despite the slight disappointment from the Spicy Tuna Handroll, I really enjoyed the Onigiris. I would love to try the other flavors as well during my next visit to Little Tokyo in LA.

I found the piece of aluminum foil in my onigiri while I was eating it on the flight back to my home yesterday. I chewed it and almost swallowed it! How dangerous is it? Chef should beware when preparing the food for the customers.

Good and delicious spam masubi but the service was not very well. I walked into the store to buy a spam masubi and then decided to use the restroom. While waiting, one of the cashiers told me that only customers that bought soemthing from the store can use the restroom and I told him that I did buy soemthing and that’s why I’m waiting in line. Moments after he came back AGAIN and asked me what I had ordered. Seriously!?! Not once but asking twice if I purchased something from the store to use the restroom. In the entire bathroom line he asked no one but I was the only one being asked. It was very rude for questioning me about purchasing something especially twice.
