I dont want to be too critical - but to me this place was just ok.. i mean props on elevating , and putting a twist to Fil dishes. - but it was underwhelming, atleast for me. Ive had many filipino fusion, twist or watever u wanna call it. Iv had Kasama in Chicago, the first Filipino Michelin Star -- and maybe that was my standard... still good though , I wings sadly was my favorite.. kare kare was cool.. but more sauce and more bagoong wouldve been cool - but then again I think they played it safe - to cater to non Fils... now the Pancit Palabok - I dd not get the pasta filling -- it was shrimp supposedly - tasted more like a fish ball, meat ball texture.. it threw me of cus Palabok is mostly just noodles w sauce - and some shrimp if youre lucky , and chicharon.. it had a lil of palabok to it but again I didnt get the pasta filling -- Its a pop up vibe, it was dark like really dark, and was only 2 tables dining, it was also so the menu was super limited.. maybe il come for dinner next time.. but I saw the dinner prices , and its a lil too much , as people have said on yelp, so not sure if Il even go unless it comes about... give em a try , maybe Im just too bias cus of Kasama and also a yelper said, a non Filipino would enjoy it more -- server also gave us the wrong bill, not a big deal but considering there was only 2 tables there , it kinda messed up the vibe more lol .. but still 4 stars for support n the food wasnt bad so dont be discouraged.. check em out.

Seems a pop up, had to ask around to find where it is cuz it’s not under its name. Understanding they are still under the construction. But that is SO dark, very fancy tho. That is not a brunch but a fine dining

I was excited to dine here and it did not disappoint! First off, cocktails were amazing. We had the escargot and ceviche to start and they were nothing short of fantastic. For the mains, we had the crispy pasta and lamb shank kaldereta. Pasta was perfectly al dente and the lamb fell right off the bone. They gave everyone complimentary strawberry sorbet and that was heavenly! We also got the red velvet mamon. Our server was really nice, friendly, and lively. Only thing was we ordered bottled still water which was right on our table but one of the servers kept refilling our glasses with tap water lol it’s no big deal though. Overall a really great experience and we’ll be coming back to try their brunch/lunch menu.

We came to Los Angeles for a quick overnight staycation to celebrate our anniversary, and Sampa was our first stop after getting into town. We’re Filipino and love trying new Filipino restaurants whenever we’re out and about. What we can say is after our overnight trip, Sampa was easily the highlight of our anniversary celebration! We were waited on by Jon, an accomplished foodie in his own right, and what we liked as soon as he served us was the passion he had for food as well as his friendliness, hospitality, and family-like customer service. He gave us excellent recommendations, told us his favorites and the most popular dishes. He also gave us a little background on the Sampa’s history. We ordered their Spicy Calamansi Glazed Chicken Wings and Kare-Kare Tamales and were blown away by the flavors of both dishes. Then Chef Josh brought out our 3rd dish, their Lechon Fried Rice served with a side of vinegar. Oh my gosh, we felt as if we had died and made it to heaven, our taste buds were exploding with excitement for Filipino food on a whole new level which we’ve never tasted before. It wasn’t over, Chef Josh then brought out what I thought was my favorite dessert ever; their Ube Cheesecake with jackfruit infused whip cream served with Polvorone crumbs! THIS would easily be my last meal if I was on death row and facing execution! My photo doesn’t allow you to taste it unfortunately, then Chef brought us yet another dessert, a Calamansi Key Lime Cheesecake which was equally as impressive! Jon proceeded to make us one of his cocktail creations, a “Purple Russian”, his spin on the classic White Russian and it tasted 10X better than it looked! Chef Josh & Jon spoke at length with us sharing their love for food, and creating new culinary masterpieces both in the kitchen and in the bar. Sampa hasn’t even had their grand opening as of our visit, yet look at their review ratings this fine restaurant has managed to receive. We’re going to have to return again before it becomes too hard to get a reservation at. We promise, if you give Sampa a try, you’ll be hooked on the Filipino food dishes served here. The food and service you’ll get when you dine at Sampa will leave you wanting to try ALL their delicious food. Don’t be surprised if you come here and see me dining at a table adjacent from you.

Great interior vibe. Chef makes fresh pasta with Italian flour. Everything is good, but do not forget to order the crispy pasta. Desserts were also top notch. Thank you Sampa!

We almost missed eating here today. It was still under Kazik, and not Sampa. Glad I did my research and it was the restaurant Sampa. We were greeted by the chef owner Joss. He's very friendly and personable. So happy to hear that they just got the lease with lots of prayers and faith. Glad to know we share the same faith. We also met the co-owner Jennifer(?) I'm bad with names. I apologize if that is not her name. She was also very pleasant and courteous. We love all the food we ate. We ordered lechon fried rice, spicy calamansi wings, and short rib eggs benedict. Let's not forget the Ube cheesecake. It was devine. Will definitely come back and take our grown children with us, our family and friends and help support our kababayans. Can't wait what they'll do with the decor, and their upcoming menus.

It’s kind of new, I believe they are transitioning from a pop-up at Kaviar to a full restaurant. The chef personally talked to us and made sure our food was excellent and even comped an item that arrived slightly late. They seem to pride themselves on in being a “family-oriented “ restaurant despite their very high-end atmosphere. We brought our 3-yo with us and it was not a problem at all.

Sampa is located in the Art District in LA, and is surrounded by murals and art work that create a trendy atmosphere and hipster vibe as you walk into the Filipino-American restaurant.Chef Josh has created a truly moreish & scrumptious menu at Sampa!! The items on the menu speak to a person that is new to Filipino cuisine, as well as to someone that is a connoisseur!!!There are different menus available depending on the time of day that you visit: lunch, brunch and dinner! I went during lunchtime on a Saturday, so I ordered from the lunch menu. Each and everything I tried was DELICIOUS & was plated with culinary precision — they were literally masterpieces in and of themselves.I started with the Spicy Calamansi-Glazed Chicken Wings which were really 10/10 delicious. And for my entree I was really really torn because there were so many great selections to choose from - but I went with the Pasta Palabok which I am still thinking about to this day!!The service was literally as amazing as the food was. I sat at the bar and had impeccable service from Jonathon, who also made all of the stunning cocktails.
