While the food, service, and atmosphere were homey and well intentioned, the overall experience was marred by operational inefficiencies at the restaurant.Upon arrival with a reservation, the lack of clear hosting procedures was evident. Though a gracious server assisted us, there seemed to be some confusion. The limited menu was further constrained by unavailable items, leading to a prolonged wait for food that arrived with incorrect orders. Despite the errors, the playful approach of the staff softened the impact, and they kindly comped for the mishaps.Regarding the food, the seared fishes had a peculiar metallic mid-palate texture, offering a unique experience that may not appeal to everyone. The menu's fusion of fine cuts of fish with bold flavors like truffle sparked controversy, catering to both adventurous and traditional palates. While Santo's offerings may not suit all tastes, patrons are encouraged to support this establishment as it refines its operations. It is hoped that the restaurant will streamline its processes to create harmony between the front and back of the house, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Quality comes with a price if you want to treat those taste buds to great tasting very fresh sushi.... then check out Santo... When food is great and quality is outstanding, then it's worth every penny... agree!?... This place will have you making your next reservation right after you leave, lol.... (maybe not, but it's the type of place that you will be back for more... Staff is great, friendly and they make you feel at home... Original Santo is located in Mexico City, and if you know the CDMX vibe, then you know this place has that... Great vibes all around, background music playing upbeat music. Place is small, so outside sitting is available to enjoy a nice day or to people watch down Sunset Street... or sit next to a stranger and maybe start a conversation?!... Parking can be a hassle, street parking only, and silverlake can get crowded, so be patient Awsome, top of the line sushi with a unique flavors Definitely recommend this spot!! When you go... Enjoy!!...

Came here as I was curious about the charcoal seared sushi. Felt the sashimi was probably the best thing on the menu though the seared chu-toro was definitely an experience. For their handrolls I felt the seaweed wasn't as light and crisp as they could be. Made them somewhat difficult to eat. It's a very small place and I definitely recommend reservations.

This is hands down the best sushi experience I've had in a very long time. The atmosphere, the taste, the service are fanatastic!! The hamachi choco and the Ube Ice cream were my favorite dishes. However I also ordered the Santō Tiradito and the Salmon Yuzu nigiri and they were both sooooo good. Will be coming back very soon.

Rarely do feel compelled to write reviews, but as a frequent diner at Santo, I must say that their operation is in dire need of improvement as I've noticed some recurring issues that need attention (and their grand opening was far too long ago for them to keep using that as an excuse). The menu often lists items that are unavailable or running low, which is disappointing. The troubling part was that during this recent visit, they used it to their advantage by pushing customers towards more expensive alternatives. For instance, they refused to sell any of their sashimi plates like the charcoal toro plate ($28), but quickly suggested we order the same four pieces in nigiri form for $40. Order accuracy has been another persistent problem. We often have to remind the staff about missing items. The most frustrating moment was with our many attempts to order uni. The one time we were able to put in an order because it wasn't sold out, it was forgotten, then sold out by the time we mentioned it. Another time, they ended up having only scraps left for a partial piece when we ordered two. While the service at the bar seating was great, the outdoor table service has been poor. The quality and consistency of service and offerings do not match the Nobu prices, which is a letdown. Frankly, they've had enough time to iron out these issues, but it seems things are only getting worse. Disappointing to say the least as a lot of grace has been given to them since they were new. I hope they understand that they're running out of excuses to short change customers.

Listen- the fish is amazing quality and the atmosphere is warm and inviting- but be prepared to wait for two hours for three sets of nigiri. Issue is- I’ve been a sushi chef for five years, nigiri is always the easiest and first out and that’s all we ordered. This has nothing to do with the wait staff, they were phenomenal and ended up comping one nigiri. We appreciated that, however, we can’t imagine going back. It’s also insane that one sake is $30 and my husband waited for 20 minutes for his beer. It’s very over priced for the amount of time you have to wait.Time is precious. I think it’s more on management to figure out where the lag is. There were three chefs, so that should have been fine, but it wasn’t. Multiple times I looked over and the chefs were chatting- relaxed and unconcerned- while the wait staff ran around trying to manage everything and everyone. Like I mentioned, time is precious and we left hungry. We would have ordered more but didn’t wanna wait for who knows how long. Management needs to figure this out- they waisted our time.

Great spot if you're a foodie looking for an elevated dining experience! It was a flavor profile that I've never experienced & was fun to try a new take on sushi. We got a little bit of everything. The miso soup was light and delicious, nigiri was exceptional & the spicy tuna roll was my favorite. The only thing I didn't like was the sashimi it was a bit chewey. It's definitely a pricy place, but if you want to try something new & have a nice night out it's worth checking out.

We had the BEST experience at Santo for dinner. Food was phenomenal and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Our server, Mariano was incredible. Gave amazing recommendations and took us through an intricate overview of the menu and what would be great things to start off with to try. Everything we had was amazing and came out quick! The dessert.. WOW! Definitely give this place a try. We can't wait to come back! Thanks Santo !

This sushi is so unique, you absolutely won't regret dining here! My personal favorite is the one with plantain, a fun sweet take on sushi. The fish is very fresh and it also has some lovely veggie options. Everyone was friendly and the vibe is truly enjoyable.

I rarely write reviews... Unless I am so deeply moved by my experience that I am obliged to share ! Santo is a place that has absolutely left a lasting impression on me. From the Food, to the Customer experience, to the Flavors, the Ambiance, all together really makes this my favorite restaurant in all of Los Angeles.Their quality of fresh fish and other ingredients blew my mind. In addition to their beautiful presentations, every single dish left me in awe. I have visited this restaurant many times in order to see if they had the consistency as well, and sure enough they do. I choose to come back time and time again, not only because of the food and the ambiance but also because I am treated like family here. The staff welcomes you and takes care of you like they would a family member, ensuring your experience be the best you've ever had. I have seen them treat every person that has walked in with the utmost care and kindness! When you come and visit Santo, be sure to try the Hamachi-Choco, and their seared otoro. I guarantee you will leave there highly impressed and coming back for more!Dietary restrictions: They have great vegan options!
