My wife and I stayed at Short Stories Hotel in mid-October for three nights. The location was ideal, within walking distance of the Farmers Market and The Grove, making it easy to enjoy LA’s highlights without a car. However, despite the excellent location, we found the rates high for what was offered. A few more amenities or thoughtful extras would have made the cost feel more justified. Great for convenience, but we felt the overall value didn’t quite match the price tag.
Our friends told us about Short Stories Restaurant and we decided to go for date night, and it now might be our new favorite spot! The food, service, and ambiance is is all 5/5. We particularly loved our spicy margaritas and the mussels. I want to call it a hidden gem but it was packed so be sure to make a reservation ahead of time because it's worth it!
We went there for a birthday party. They have a great indoors/outdoors vibe. Service was fantastic and there was a group of about 10 of us. While the waitstaff were all very good, they did upsell us on the wine which I guess was our fault for not asking how much it was going to cost. The bartender was also great. We went in sipped a bit of Scotch and he brought over a couple for us to taste. Very knowledgeable unfriendly
