I enjoyed their falafels and hummus at the grand opening. However, the place is disappointingly not halal. In a neighborhood that is increasingly being gentrified, the absence of halal food at a Lebanese joint inevitably excludes the Muslim and Arab student body at Occidental College(the irony!). Zweet Cafe nearby has halal options and I hope Skaf’s can follow suit.
This place is close to a 5. But here's what happens and it's common at restaurants like this: either order a plate or pay like $70 for 2 people. The Toum is great. Falafel is really good. Lentil Soup really bland. Hummus taboulee and baba ghanouj are all really good. The Foul was great actually.
My partner and I love this place. It's one of our favorite places in the neighborhood and we feel incredibly lucky to have this within walking distance to us. Everything is really great -- ambiance is casual, food is so fresh & delicious and the service is really great too. The staff checks in on you quite a lot-- a bit more than I would personally prefer but you can't fault them for being overly attentive.
