Was craving soba on a Saturday morning and luckily found SOBAR. Soba made in house - 100% buckwheat, cooked to perfection. Some of the best soba I’ve ever had with strong but clean dipping sauces. Had an extra full serving of soba to polish off the dipping sauces. Service was as good if not greater than soba itself.
Restaurant design is beautiful, modern, clean. I love the center bar countertop seating. Staff was very friendly.
The food was a bit disappointing. I didn't expect it to match what I had in Japan, but it really fell short. Ordered a few apps: Dashi simmered pumpkin, Dashimaki, and Agedashi Nasu. All fell flat. SOBAR is lovely and authentic. It’s surprisingly difficult to find *really* good Japanese food in LA, but SOBAR is an exception; it has a diverse but short enough menu that the quality is consistent. The dining room is well appointed, comfortable and efficient without being fussy. Love it!
