I told the employee it was my first time and didn’t know how to order. So she told me to read the steps & then order. I was like ok maybe she’s having a bad day but she was also being rude to the customers coming in. Once I placed my order and it was time to pick the toppings the other employee didn’t tell us the number of toppings we could pick. After my girlfriend picked one topping the employee said “that’s it” & moved on to the next customer.

This is the Little Tokyo outlet of Somi Somi dessert chain. This chain is quite popular since it is not your typical ice cream parlor. They serve soft serve ice cream with various milk flavors. They also serve ice cream with tai yaki cakes on top. It is Japanese milk and tai yaki themed desserts which is different than traditional ice cream shops. Since this is located across from Little Tokyo shopping mall there is no free parking.

Price = ~$7 / service = average / cleanliness = below average / interior = cafe style, casual / parking = metered, street but difficult to find a spotI have seen many SomiSomi but never been to one until today. I can see the appeal of their primary item of the upside down ahboong soft serve. However, I cannot determine whether it is worth it...which might mean that it is not. The ice cream is a soft serve so there is no point in comparing it to other ice cream shops that make a more curated style.I ordered the ube and strawberry swirl soft serve with an upside down ahboong with custard for about ~$7. I was surprisingly disappointed for a shop that has so many locations. The ahboong had a slight stench that ruined the experience. I am not certain if the stench was the batter being old instead of fresh or whatever it was. The ube and strawberry ice cream was okay but nothing special. I do not think I would visit again...maybe the experience was specific to this SomiSomi location.

Got the Ube/Coffee Soft serve and the strawberry/cookies and cream ss. Also the taro taiyaki. It was all great. Good prices, cool tasty bites.

First time trying their soft serve icecream and wasn't disappointed! It was so delicious and worth the long line. Service was friendly. The only thing is they don't have a restroom for customers...
