I cannot believe how loud their announcement speakers are. They claim to not be able to control the volume, but the names being called out are like screaming, over-the-top shouting. Someone needs to fix the sensitivity of the microphone. Can’t enjoy my treat in peace here.
somi somi is a classic. worth trying for everyone.
SomiSomi in Sawtelle = dessert heaven 🍦🐟 Creamy soft serve in their iconic Taiyaki cones — fun, delicious, and totally Instagram-worthy! ✨
From the little I stole from my boyfriend, the ice cream was very delicious. The soft serve ice cream was smooth, creamy, and sweet. The taiyaki was light, crispy, warm and it was very nice. Maybe next time I'll order my own just for me.
Just wanted to take my kids for ice cream on a Saturday at 2pm and got a parking ticket. The neighbors called by the way that's what the officer said. Don't park around the neighborhood i thought it said 2 hrs parking apparently u need a permit to park around this area, very confusing. I'll never waste my money here or the giant robot store again. Thank u sawtelle
Very yummy and a very good value for $6.95 for the Upside down ahboong. The ice cream flavors were limited but the black sesame fish made up for it. Good service and the place was clean. Will come again.
Good selection with interesting flavor options such as peach (limited) , matcha, sesame and Ube. I personally like softer ice cream more but this is a very popular Korean inspired ice cream place that has a very thick and rich

Very very expensive
We ordered the pack of five and got a mix of the Oreo taiyakis and the custard taiyakis. I did not try the Oreo one, but the custard one was fantastic. The batter was not overly sweet, allowing the custard to make up for the hints of sweetness that we were looking for. I recommend stopping in for a quick dessert. You’ll even get to watch it being made!
I recently discovered SomiSomi, and oh my goodness—it’s such a delicious and totally fun dessert experience. They serve soft-serve ice cream paired with a fish-shaped taiyaki waffle cone—yes, it really looks like a fish, but rest assured it’s a warm, crispy waffle, not seafood! You can choose to have that little fish waffle stuffed with a filling—Nutella, custard, taro, or red bean—or even have it perched upside-down on top of your ice cream.
The contrast is divine: warm, chewy-sweet waffle meets cold, fluffy soft serve. And the customization is endless—different flavor combos like matcha, ube, milk, or black sesame, plus rotating swirls, plus free toppings like Fruity Pebbles or Oreo crumbs. It’s as creative as it is delicious.
Every visit feels like a treat—not just a dessert, but a genuine moment of joy. I’ve come back more than once because it’s that good. SomiSomi is an absolute winner for anyone looking for something unique, tasty, and Instagram-worthy.

Very good ice cream.
Matcha ice cream and red beans in fish shaped waffle cone is a great treat.
Great food and service. Would recommend.
Great dessert spot! Depending on what time you arrive, there might be a line but it is worth it and the prices are fair.
Their soft serve is creamy, delicious and very aesthetic. Their strawberry milk is also good but has been selling out more.
Kinda sad they don’t have the taro taiyaki anymore but love that they added the matcha flavor. Those little fishies always cheer me up and hit the spot.
Found this place on google and thought we’d check it out. The desert was so good & very creative! Highly recommend.
