Sugarfish on La Brea is the kind of place that reminds you just how good something simple can be when it’s done with absolute precision. I order delivery from here often—it’s hands down the best delivery sushi in LA, which says a lot in this town. But delivery sushi, by nature, is like watching a movie on a plane. Even when it’s good, it’s not quite the real experience.
Walking into Sugarfish resets your palate. The service is quiet, seamless, and ultra-consistent. The food comes out with that same discipline that made Sushi Nozawa a legend back in 1978—there’s nothing showy here, no truffle oil nonsense, just clean cuts of very fresh fish over perfect rice with warm vinegar tang and that melt-in-your-mouth texture. The “Trust Me” menu doesn’t try to impress—it’s not meant to—but it delivers a kind of minimalist mastery that hits every time.
This place is a reminder that basic isn’t boring. Basic is confident. Sugarfish doesn’t need to reinvent anything because they got it right a long time ago.

I hate saying how great it is because then the secret will be out and it will be harder for me to get in!! Haha. This may be the best sushi I've ever had in my life... and it's consistent every single time I go there. You can't go wrong.

Absolutely delicious! We only go during off-eating times and there no wait, but you could be waiting half an hour during peak hours.

The service was so rushed they were bringing out dishes before we finished the last and tables so close together you bump elbows with the table next to you. Very loud. Maybe an off night but there are better sugar fish locations.

Went here for lunch a few weeks ago. The food was good, the ambiance was pleasant, and staff were all friendly! Plenty of street parking available. I would be coming back!

Got the nozawa set menu - I enjoyed it! The hand rolls were definitely my favorite. It was nice to not have to think about what to order. One thing that surprised me was that they only have sushi on the menu (no appetizers), and the selection is not huge (no tamago!!!). I'm not sure what other places in downtown LA cost, but $39 for the set felt like a good deal to me!
