Tacos 1986 used to be one of my favorite taquerias in LA, so much so that I drove 20 minutes out of my way and parked 8 blocks away on a Friday night, to come and eat some tacos. I ordered four tacos, one of each, and was very disappointed. The chicken, carne asada, and mushrooms or all bland. The Al Pastor was the only good one. Very disappointed, don't know that I'll be back 😔

Small storefront setup with some standing and counter seating. I ordered a $3.45 taco, which was a good sized with plenty of meat and a nice scoop of avocado. They also have a self-serve salsa bar.
I tried the al pastor — while it had a crispy texture, the flavor was disappointing, and unfortunately, I didn’t feel great after eating it.

Honestly, some of the best tacos I’ve had in LA. I got the al pastor and carne asada, and both were perfectly seasoned. The tortillas were warm and soft, and the salsas added just the right amount of heat. The spot is small, so expect to stand while you eat, but it’s totally worth it

I’ve been coming to Tacos 1986 for the last few months, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best late-night taco spots in Downtown LA. The al pastor is always perfectly seasoned, juicy, and topped with fresh pineapple. The salsa verde adds the right amount of heat, and I love the simple yet flavorful tacos. The vibe here is always lively, and the staff is super friendly. Definitely a go-to after a long night out

This might sound crazy but the mushroom taco is my favorite. It’s so good! I which more taco places would make tacos de hongos. Its sautéed very good
Very good. Superior Tacos comparing it to Sonoratown. This place has good flavor, good ingredients and technique. I waited in a pretty long line because the service was unorganized but I can say it was worth the wait. Reminds me of tacos you get right across the border. Definitely will come back.

Came here at 11:30 pm last vacation on march and the food was amazing just like I remember when I lived here
So the quality holds up.
Also this bumb was entering and bothering us for change….on our vacation
And the cooks kicked them out multiple times. I appreciate that ❤️❤️❤️

The food was ok/decent nothing special about it but I guess being that I’m Mexican if I want better food I’ll just cook for myself, they have no bathroom so for me that is not a place that I would go to again as you can’t wash your hands or use the bathroom if you have to go to the bathroom which was the case I had go into a bar a few doors down to use the bathroom and lucky for me there was no cover charge.

This taqueria is one of my favorites, Mario, Sergio and Santos are the best employees, they provide top-notch service. The tortillas are made by hand and the meats are delicious!!!

Food is average
I think other nearby taco restaurants could be a good alternative.
However, because the location is downtown, it is a bit difficult to go there at night.
