Taco Table is part of a fascinating regional taco drama that's unfolding where angry ex-employees from neighboring Tacos El Viejon defected and opened Taco Table right next door. The end result is some serious tension between the two, and unfortunately for Taco Table, they just don't quite stack up to the original. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Going to Taco Table is weird. The second you get in line you're likely to be approached by someone at nearby Tacos El Viejon who is going to try and entice you over to their stand about twenty feet away. The folks at Taco Table seem to just ignore the situation, but it's certainly odd. Even so, the service at Taco Table is quick and painless. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $2.00 per taco is perfectly reasonable, but it is worth pointing out that Tacos El Viejon only charge $1.60 each for the same product. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? The tacos at Taco Table were good, but they weren't quite as impressive as Tacos El Viejon, and I think that came down to the meats being a bit overcooked. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Tacos El Viejon is simply better, so I can't say that Taco Table would be a repeat visit. No Star.

Tacos, vampiros, burritos, mulitas made with handmade tortillas at the time you order plus grilled meat(beef, chicken, chorizo, etc)done on natural charcoal. You're gonna love these street tacos with home flavor!

I would say if you like tacos that as close as to the ones you can get in Mexico this is the place. I lived in Boyle Heights most of my life and have driven past this place a couple time. As you know BH has tons of taco stands in a 3mile radius. I have officially dropped my last taco stand for this one. All the meats are excellent here. If you like Tripas and Lengua this is the spot!

i agree with Kevin C. These God-given tacos are heavenly. The mulitas are cheesy on the inside, and crisp on the outside- and they're only 2 bucks each. Everyone here (the workers and customers) are so friendly. Why waste your dollars on a half-assed, flavorless fast food taco, when you can get a juicy, meat filled authentic taco for just $1!

How I see it , Taco's are a gift from God to mankind. I eat taco's a few times a week, and I'm not talking about those "Fusion" abominations from gourmet food trucks, or some gringo invented tex mex stuff. I'm talking about the real thing, cooked by honest hard working beautiful mexicans(sometimes the whole family) on street corners. Sweat on their brow from the intense heat as an audience watches their hands do magic that would make benihana cooks jealous. Simply put, this humble little Taco Table puts out the best Taco's I've had so far in my amateur taco tasting career. My standards being Carne asada and Al Pastor, and this place has excellent examples of both. They have a great salsa table , that I've realized is a standard now a days to even compete. Their Pastor is grilled on a spit, then maintained in a container with juice of goodness so it's juicy and Crispy. I hate the pastor that's been boiled to death, there's absolutely no texture. However this place has perfected it.. juicy and crispy. I tried my friends Horchata and the ice was DELICIOUS. How can Ice be delicious? try and you'll see.. it's like having a Horchata slushy. I've tried many.. many tacos... in my years through out Korea town , echo park, silverlake, downtown, Eagle rock, South La, West LA, and east LA. and even Mexico this place is tops. The cook was such a hard worker, he has my highest respects. Taco Table, you are the true king of Taco's. Humble and you let the Taco's speak for themselves!

Without fail, every time I come to this taco table they have a small tv going showing Soccer highlights You can find these folks here just about every night after 6pm. They set up and start cooking their meat while watching television. Much like any self respecting taco table on Brooklyn Ave (Oh, sorry Ceasar Chavez) they have some home made Horchata waiting and for a buck a cup. How can you go wrong with that? They have a pretty good spread of fixings for your taco. While I've seen better, this is far and beyond better than even most taco trucks have. They got everything diced up and it all taste fresh. But by the end of the night they do start to run out of the fixings. As for their tacos. Let me put it this way, they are unbelievably good. There's nothing like a freshly made taco that has had all that love put into it. Ok, not love.. but desire for a buck, which is how much they charge per taco. You know a taco table is good when they don't make you pay the moment you get your taco. It's like leaving the tab open at a bar but not needing a credit card to be placed on hold. You enjoy your taco and then you go back for seconds and thirds. By the end you go up to the cashier and tell him how many tacos you ate and it's a buck from there. Nothing makes a taco taste better than having it charged on the honor system. And I'm sure you're wondering, their Al Pastor has a pineapple on top of it. Which does make a world of difference in the meat than if they cooked it with an onion. Over all, one amazingly good taco table that looks like they want to make a name for themselves on Cesar Chavez. My hat is off to you, good men, you're doing a good job!
