It smells like Japan in here!!! I ordered a bento box for lunch. Everything was fresh, and taste delicious. A little pricey for me tho.

Three emails sent to request a reservation for 10 people went unanswered, so we went elsewhere.

Wonderful place. Some of the best sushi I've had around here. We came here on a rainy night and wound up being the only people inside the restaurant. The restaurant sits in little Tokyo and you get a great view overlooking 1st street along the row of restaurants. Located inside the Miayko Hotel and on the second floor, they do have parking inside however we found a nice cozy spot on 1st street next to the restaurant. This was a sushi date night and we enjoyed everything to the very last bite. Super fresh and super tasty. Some good recommendations to get are the Salmon Set ( if you're a salmon lover like me) the Blue Fin Tuna set along with their Nabeyaki Ramen and their signature Tamon Bento. I'm looking forward to returning again soon.

Quiet unassuming restaurant on the second floor of the hotel. I was the only customer at 6:30 on a Monday evening. Staff lovely. Chirashi heavenly and $50 well spent.

We came here for lunch on a Monday (Oct 9, 2023) as most of the highly-rated sushi spots are closed on Mondays in Little Tokyo. The dining room was empty except for one other table. This place is located inside a hotel on the second floor. The sushi is definitely fresh but the preparation style wasn’t a fit for us. The salmon sashimi and nigiri (and a few other types of fish) are presented with the chewy skin still on which leaves an undesirable texture. While it does look artsy (and allows the restaurant to serve fish parts that most others would trim away), it wasn’t palette friendly for us. We also tried the wagyu sushi which the server verified for us was Japanese A5 wagyu but it didn’t hit the mark. I’m not sure what was going on as it did not have the baseline umami that A5 has and tasted like American wagyu. Miso soup came with my entree and the soup was brought out after my entree was out for a bit. The staff was kind but seemed like a new crew. $100+ for a subpar LA sushi experience. There are much better places in LA.

Tamon Sushi is an underrated gem, located on the second floor of the Miyako Hotel. Japanese hospitality with Japanese-speaking servers, serving authentic Washoku.I’ve stayed loyal to Tamon throughout the years, including when they downsized their menu to only sushi, and am glad that they are back in full force now.Definitely try their Fatty Fish nigiri set ($20), which features select chu-toro, yellowtail, and salmon at 2 pieces each, or their Senior Bento ($25) which features grilled fish, simmered veggies, mixed tempura, rice and miso soup.LOVE their happy hour, which features reduced sake, shochu, and beer options to pair with their fabulous food offerings. Happy hour runs from 5:30-7:30pm, and simply rocks. Closed Sundays and Wednesdays.Excellent views over Historical 1st Street, calm ambiance with plenty of choices to suit any taste. This place consistently earns their 5 stars.Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator to second floor

We found this gem of a restaurant hidden on the second floor of the Miyako hotel. It's one of the best kept secrets in LA! Delicious and authentic Japanese food. Fresh and tasty seafood! Try the Chirashi!

The server is really nice and food is great too. But the manager lady really had a attitude with us. When we first walked in there was no sign saying “no outside food allowed”. We ordered 106$ food and wanted to try the takoyaki we brought from outside. When the manager saw us she said “ oh you guys brought outside food. It’s fine, I will just charge you.” Without any warning first and charged us. Later on, she then said something like “if you guys had stopped eating we won’t charge u” which she didn’t say in the beginning until we finished our food. Other than that part, sushi was good, server was good too. I just hope they could put a sign to clarify the rules there instead of just charging customers’s money without giving a warning.

One of the more pleasant chirashi I've had in sometimes. Fresh fish, lovely presentation, good service. I particularly LOVE the ikura and uni on my bowl, it's so bouncy and savory and uni is sweet. My partner had their salmon teriyaki and omagurd it's SOFT. Very yummy. Large cold house sake's portion is a bit of a scam though LOL. Pretty container but it literally only come out to 3 almost full cups total.

Even though the JapanUp! Magazine advertised the breakfast buffet at this location from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, few (except for the hotel patrons) are aware of its food offerings at this time of day. It appears I am the first to review it for the breakfast buffet. The buffet is your typical Japanese curry and miso soup + continental style breakfast. It costs $28 plus tax and tip, but if you are a hotel guest, you get a coupon for a cost of $21 plus tax and tip. So, not exactly a steal. If I were to price it at a good value cost, I would say that $18 per person is closer to what I would have liked to pay. Food: decently tasty. Curry rice, miso, natto, scrambled eggs, pickled items, broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes, grilled salmon, sausage, bacon, and your offering of bakery items, such as waffles, danishes, muffins, and the like. Only fruit offered was honeydew melon, which was quite fresh. There was yoplait French vanilla yogurt. Drinks included milk, orange juice, and water. Coffee is offered, but you have to ask for it. There are hardly any customers in this place at this time , and we arrived here at 8:30 am. Piano music in the background. Servers don't hover over you too much. Ambiance is quiet, clean, classic leaning more towards old school look. Service is attentive and responsive. Would I return? Only if I couldn't find any other cheaper breakfast options. Overall good food, but the price is a little high.
