Amazing hand roll restaurants in DTLA with a speakeasy bar. They have a $88 couple combo which is great for dating and couple. The fish were so fresh and premium quality. The staffs are really friendly and loved the environment. The cocktails are straight from the bar and wasted great. We would definitely come back.

Temaki Society in DTLA is redefining the handroll experience🍣✨

For $88, the Couple Combo is a dream for sushi lovers — featuring Caviar, Uni, and Tuna handrolls that melt in your mouth, along with Kombu Salmon, Seared Salmon, Scallop, and Blue Crab rolls, each wrapped in perfectly crisp nori. The freshness hits immediately — from the creamy uni to the buttery salmon and sweet scallop. You also get two appetizers, like their raw marinated shrimp (a silky, umami-packed bite) and assorted sashimi that shows off the quality of their fish🐟

What makes this spot special is the attention to detail — they make sure each roll is served at its best, with the seaweed still crisp and warm rice inside.

They’re partnered with Bar Grayson, so you can pair your handrolls with craft cocktails or sake. 🍶 Must be 21+ if you’re dining after 5PM!

Temaki Society instantly became my favorite spot in DTLA after just one visit! The food is absolutely amazing — easily some of the best hand rolls in the city. The rolls are packed generously, but still perfectly balanced so you can enjoy them without making a mess. Totally worth the price for the quality you get.

The uni was incredibly fresh and tasted phenomenal — one of the best I’ve ever had. Everything about the experience felt top-tier. and the lobster… heavenly!! Every bite felt special! I’ll definitely be recommending this place to all my friends. Highly recommend!!!!

It was a truly satisfying meal! The ingredients were fresh and generously portioned.
The seasoning was excellent as well—the sea urchin and Japanese shiso leaves paired perfectly.
We ordered the signature Temaki Five along with a few special hand rolls, and the owner enthusiastically explained each type of fish.
I’ll definitely be back next time!

I’d seen this place pop up so many times and finally had to try it. They’re known for flying in fresh uni straight from Japan and using premium Japanese rice. Since uni quantities are limited, a lot of people said if you come late you’ll miss out, so I went right when they opened on a weekday lunch.

5 Handroll Combo

Spicy Tuna Roll: tuna with crispy onion

Salmon Roll: fresh minced salmon

Scallop Roll: bay scallops with tobiko, juicy and crunchy

Yellowtail Roll: chopped yellowtail, tender and smooth

Blue Crab Roll: blue crab with avocado

This set is such a deal at $29, considering each handroll is $7–8 if ordered separately. Freshness is guaranteed, nothing goes wrong here.

Other handrolls I tried

Spicy Yellowtail Roll: with jalapeño, cilantro, burdock, yuzu soy, and lemon zest—refreshing with a spicy kick

Banh Mi Roll: Vietnamese banh mi spirit turned into sushi! Albacore tuna with pickled radish, chili, garlic chili oil, lime zest, and cilantro

Golden Uni Roll: uni topped with 24K gold leaf, pickled wasabi, and shiso—sweet, creamy, totally worth it, and I got uni from a freshly opened box

CUT Roll: tuna, uni, and caviar layered beautifully

Lobster Roll (seasonal): with peanut sauce, hoisin, sriracha, green onion, and crispy onion—rich and Southeast Asian-inspired

Uni Toast
Japanese shokupan toasted crisp, topped with herb mayo, ikura, nori, and uni. One luxurious bite!

Marinated Shrimp
Packed with flavor. I’m always a sucker for marinated shrimp, and seeing it here was a happy surprise.

Overall, the ingredients are super fresh and the prices fair for what they offer. It’s not fine dining but easily one of the best in this style. I’ll definitely be back to try their sashimi bowls for a quick lunch.

I mean, this is the besttttt handroll spot in all of Los Angeles. Cool unique hand rolls (like the same woo jang and banh mi) and premium rolls (uni, toro/caviar/uni). AND they give huge chunks of sushi. Since the seaweed layer is taken off when eating the seaweed is crispy while eating. The technology is giving! Honestly, IMO better than some of the big popular establishments around for hand rolls (IYKYK). Their to-go and delivery is not bad as well!

Their uni roll!!! 🤯 One bite and… wow! The uni is unbelievably sweet and fresh — like ice cream melting in your mouth 🍦! So fresh, with absolutely no fishy taste. Paired with perfectly seasoned rice and just the right amount of nori… it’s seriously amazing! 😍 The three of us all agreed: it’s the most stunning uni we’ve had in a long time

Absolutely blown away by the freshness of the uni — creamy, sweet, and melts in your mouth. The hand rolls were made to order with perfectly seasoned rice and crisp nori. Easily one of the best sushi spots I’ve been to for authentic, top-quality sashimi.

Stumbled upon this amazing handroll and sashimi spot in DTLA — Temaki Society — and I just had to come back for a second visit. It’s seriously a hidden gem!

We ordered two combos: Temaki Five and the 5 Handroll Combo. The portions were super generous — definitely enough for 1.5 meals for two people! Each handroll is pretty big, and they also offer a Chinese menu, which is super convenient.

They have a special uni handroll for $22 — I tried it last time. While the uni had a slight fishy taste that day, everything else was delicious and super fresh!

We also got the salmon and tuna sashimi, which were buttery, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth good. To top it all off, the owner was so kind and gave us 4 marinated raw shrimp on the house — incredibly tender and flavorful. I loved them!

Only downside: parking is tricky — street parking is hard to find and nearby lots are pricey.
But honestly, the food is worth it. I’ll be back again for sure!

The food is decent. I got set of 5 - everything was good except the first hand roll I think it was scallops - it wasnt fresh. The service was decent and quick. Lady at the counter had a poker face the entire time. The counter was dirty from the previous eaters. The tiny seats are ok but the noise level and people walking behind your back - the entire Grand Market is a mess, a stable. Overpriced, noisy and dirty and very crowded place. One and done
