Im super picky when it comes to Mexican food and let me tell you this place really does not disappoint. We waited a while for the food but you have to keep in mind that good food takes time and energy to make. I ordered the chilaquiles con mole and a side of papas, the chilaquiles were so delicious. The mole tastes amazing it’s not too sweet and has no bitter notes. Super filling. The papas are amazing they’re so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Will def be coming back, I personally really appreciate the ambiance in there it reminds me of eating in a home or in my dads down in MX. The people here really value and love food.

Terrible service. The sever, a young man, didn’t know how to properly manage his time. Talked way too long to ppl who weren’t even sat down and left guests unattended. I was there for 10-minutes waiting to be served and he would attend ppl who just walked in and didn’t apologize. When I told him how terrible the service was, he just laughed. And he had literally no tables at all. It was awful. Will come back, when there’s a different server. Poor guy, he must be new or not trained.

I don't know how it's possible but this joint has the best burger in LA. By FAR. The meat was absolutely succulent and delicious.Besides that, the enchiladas were incredible, and the flan was the best I've ever had. I don't know how more people don't know about this place. I will be coming back.

The food was so delicious. I recommend the chorizo and frijoles. We had two servers one was exceptional however the other server made us very uncomfortable with his aggressive, bad attitude and rude behavior. I'd like to say I would come back but if I saw him I would RUN!

Best food ever in the heart of Boyle Heights! I had chicken enchiladas with mole and beans. My friend had chicken tacos with "cole slaw". We shared, and both loved everything! Service is attentive and friendly.

This cute, no-frills restaurant was the highlight of our Sunday. Ran into it by pure luck and we're excited to have a new place to revisit. You have familiar dishes with a modern twist and every layer is as flavorful as the next. Hard to find delicious food, great prices and excellent service in one place, but Tenampal has it all. Highly recommend you give them a visit and add a flan to top your meal, didn't get a photo of that, but it was definitely the best I've ever had.
Fantastic meal, great personable service. We'll be back the next time we're in the area. The Brussels Sprouts are worth the trip alone!

Had breakfast here. And the chicken enchiladas with mole. My husband had the chilaquiles half green sauce and half mole. We also ordered the photo for an appetizer. It was all so delicious!! We had ordered way too much food but it was hard to stop eating. The mole was my favorite. Not too sweet and enough spice. The potatoes were amazing too. I don't know how their season but wow! Those potatoes were addicting. And how can I forget their cafe de oja? The smell and taste warmed my soul. I live in Pasadena and definitely driving to East Los. for true Mexican food!
