My girlfriend and I just started to come here on a regular basis for the happy hour menu. We both love the burger and fries combo for just $10. And it’s great quality!

What a gem, especially with such historic and cultural meaning for the LGBTQ+ community! The food, wine list and service were all excellent.
The food was better than I expected, especially their salad and steak. The beet salad was amazing and the steak was cooked to perfect medium rare. We enjoyed the chicken liver toast, which pared beautifully with the gamay we got. Moreover enjoyed the cavatelli pasta dish we got with calabrian peppers (don't see if on the online menu now). Finally, we finished with the basque cheesecake, which is my favorite cheesecake. Could be a bit more caramelized but enjoyed every bite.
I was told they had an interesting wine menu and they did. They got me at Gamay but had another Spanish Red, Trepat, I have never had that was somewhere between a pinor noir and a sancerre rouge chilled. Also had the Cinsault, I didn't get to try yet.
We had a great server who fit the vibe. Welcoming and friendly and kept with the temp of our meal. Also the atmosphere is like a big clean pub and great people watching, especially the week before Halloween when all the costume parties start from DTLA to WeHo!

The fries were great, they were out of a lot of their draft beers which was unfortunate but other than that the service was great.

I have been there 3 times and my experience has always been good. It has a pub like ambiance which is rare in the area and the service it’s always kind and fast.
I distract 0.5 points cause they always have long wait times. Drinks are very good too.

Lovely, classic atmosphere. Deco historic. Historic LGBT site. Super friendly staff and attentive management. My boyfriend and I went on National Coming Out night, and they had a really lit party going on in their cordoned off outdoor space, and they brought the party inside with a DJ, still walkers, and other entertainment. The food was solid, and the drinks were great and affordable. They even had a sour on the menu, which is rare to find. And their crème brûlée was really well prepared. The vibes were great. Loved the classic, historic feel with young, vibrant and Silverlake-locals energy. We’ll be back!

Great spot for a date, very classy inside and the service was good. Food menu is a bit interesting but there are some good choices on there. Silverlake staple! Always have to come back to this spot

The restaurant is not very kid-friendly. I was with my 5-month-old baby, who was sleeping peacefully in his stroller. We wanted to have a quick dinner on their outdoor patio, where only two tables were occupied. The server told us that children are not allowed, which I found quite surprising. I checked on their website, and there are no words about kids. My baby was in the stroller and sleeping— we were not even inside the restaurant. I was very disappointed by this experience. We ended up going to Bacari cross the street and loved it there.

A memorable evening at The Black Cat... with just one strange moment. We had an amazing dining experience at The Black Cat. The staff was warm, attentive, and incredibly professional especially our server, who made sure every detail of our dinner was taken care of. The food was exceptional, both in flavor and presentation, and the value was excellent. The ambience is cozy, stylish, and welcoming perfect for a night out with friends. One odd moment: while we were waiting at the bar for our party to arrive, I paid my tab and was taking a photo of the receipt alongside my drink and a postcard just something to capture the moment. The bartender walked up while I was mid-photo and snatched the receipt and postcard out of my shot, even though it was clear I was taking a picture. It felt intrusive and unnecessary. That said, I didn't let it ruin the evening because everything else was fantastic. Still, bartenders should respect patrons' space and let them document their experience as long as it's not disruptive. Overall, I highly recommend The Black Cat. One awkward moment, but a truly excellent evening otherwise.
Awesome place for grabbing a quick drink when you don’t want to wait. Theres tons of outdoor seating, so little to no wait required when you’re in the mood.
