The Gift Shop in the Westin Bonaventure, in Los Angeles, likes to price gouge right before an organization books an event there at the Hotel. A Snickers bar cost $4.00 before our organization booked a week long Convocation, now that same Snickers cost $4.75 the day our Convocation started. It’s greed like this that puts a stain on Bonvoy - they should do better than this; shame on them.
Amazing food and service ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Galleria is in desperate need of revitalizing, most of the stores and restaurants are shuttered, and appear to have been in that state for several years. While the architecture of the building is still a marvel - a walk through this massive 6 floor complex may take you down memory lane to March 2020, when everything was closed. In fact, some businesses are frozen in a visible state of closing-down chaos, such as the restaurant on the top floor with garbage and mattresses strewn about for passersby to see (hasn't been touched in a year at least). The existing amenities and businesses are outdated, if not, irrelevant. I'm not an expert on Christian Science reading rooms, but out of the many times I've been to the Bonaventure, I’ve not seen a single visitor there. With all these office workers in the area looking for lunch and to run errands - the Christian Science reading room being one of the only vendors here really doesn't help. Aside from that, food options are a regular sit-down higher end brewery, an affordable Korean café that serves food on paper plates, and the "East-West Cafe', which has had its soda fountain out of order for at least a year. Not to mention the interior is from the 90s - so what’s the food like? The only convenience store is extremely expensive, overwhelmingly stocked with souvenirs and such that it feels claustrophobic, The clerk doesn’t even bother to fully unlock or open the door! The office workers in DTLA and guests to the city deserve this legendary hotel and shopping center - but it needs to be useful and up-to-date. As it is now, there isn’t much of a reason to visit.
Several of us came here for an event. Although we had written into the hotel and called regarding wanting close or connecting rooms, this was not communicated. Both of us are Elite Plat and Titanium and no upgrades. We able to eventually get rooms connecting but one was not ready. I was to be called when it was. Several hours later I went down to the front desk to check only to find out it had been ready for sometime. That was disappointing as I needed to get ready for the event that evening.
Lovely staff, a great location for a first visit to LA. But we couldn't connect to the wifi from our room, on the second night we called in and were automatically directed to off-property tech support who were very kind and said that they would escalate the issue. After 30 mins, I still needed wifi so I went to the lobby to try and connect to the lobby network. It was still not working and so I went to the reception thinking they would be able to help. The lady was very unhelpful saying there is nothing she could do, putting her finger up at me and made me feel so unimportant. She didn't even have the heart to ask what my concern for needing to connect to the wifi so desperately. Marriott staff was usually so kind, in the end a kind guest from the lobby offered her hotspot for 5 minutes and my issue was resolved. I am so disappointed to have met this terrible lady at the reception after the most lovely day at Disneyland. Its always the small things and in hospitality you should always care, no matter the race!
HORRABLE! The worse experience we had in 30 years of traveling. Got to the hotel and no one on the reception desk! After waiting for a while one person showed up. Asked her about restaurants in the hotel. She clearly lied telling us "there are many to choose from". After going in circles for 45 minutes we found out that either most of the restaurants were closed or had private wedding. Left us with one choice and that was the steak house and the bar. Wen to the steakhouse and was told by our waitress that the food is out of this world! Well for $100 a plate it better be right? WRONG! Bread was cold and hard. steak was nothing better than what you get at the local supermarket. Drinks were watered down........ After spending almost $400 decided to go to the bar. It was nice up there but the drinks were again all watered down with bunch of extra ice and a ridiculous price. This is how Marriott and Westin screwed up our 31st wedding anniversary. Well all disappointed we decided to just go and sleep. Got to the room and was even more surprised. The room was so small that we had to bump into each other jut to go to the bathroom. It was smelly and outdated. It seemed like we just walked into an old moldy house from the 1800 s . All angry and disappointed we just went o bed and left next morning. Did I mention the $50 parking fee?! Next day I received an email with survey. After sending a negative survey, I got a call from the hotel. I told him what happened and he never got back to me. I guess that's the norm for this hotel to screw people and then forget about maybe making it up to them and make them happy.
The hotel is okay. Stayed business for a week. But I have hard time to get a copy of receipt. I stayed extended, only have a part of the receipt, the rest has been a battle since and still. Accounting staff needs to wake up and taking calls or responding please! There is a useless website that doesn't respond either.
Well this is definitely an “average” hotel in our opinion. We were allocated a room on the 15th floor but right next to the lifts. The room was a little shabby, and our toilet blocked on our 2nd night. The pillows were so soft we had to use 3 each. The cafe and restaurant were very expensive as was the gift shop. We ate on the Bonadventure Brewing Company restaurant on our 2nd night which was ok. There are a lot of restaurants and shops still closed at this location so there is limited choice, we didn’t use the pool but it looked inviting. The wifi in the rooms was dreadful, don’t bother. However every single staff member that we came across was great, this includes the staff at the cafe, in the shop and at the BBC. We probably wouldn’t return to this hotel but it wasn’t a bad place for a couple of nights to sleep.
BEWARE: We stayed back in April 2022, and I paid for 2 rooms for the entire stay using TicketsatWork.com. One room was for Myself, and my husband and the other room was for my son. They asked him for his CC even though it was paid for and stated it was only for room charges during the stay. No charges were made, and everything was good until May 2023 where they charged his credit card for the stay, 1 1/2 years later. When my son denied the charge, they fought him over and over again. Who does this!! They are criminals and no one is returning my call or even acknowledging my request to speak with someone in their accounting dept. I have sent them the bills and the proof that I paid for both rooms. They absolutely refuse to contact me. I would definitely think twice about staying here and I would certainly check your CC statements.
As requested by manager Francisco. I stayed at this property and as an Ambassador elite member. This hotel does not live as a true hospitality hotel where service and hospitality means everything. It actually means nothing to Francisco who lacks the Marriott experience, just completely rude. This is my second time at this hotel and my last.
Restaurantji Recommends
Stayed here for 4 night at the end of our American holiday. Highly recommend the hotel. Looks great from the outside, really relaxing on the inside. Friendly staff. Large rooms with stunning views over LA. There's a pool, outdoor area, bar, restaurant, gift/essentials shop inside. Great visit
As a kid of the 80s, I remember this hotel from a number of movies of the era. It's been nicely renovated and has the Westin brand standards in the room. Getting to it was a bit difficult as the entrance was on a different level than I expected. Plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood, typical downtown LA. The coffee shop got really busy in the morning! Good place to stay.
BEWARE... My Family and I stayed 4 nights at the hotel. My son slept in a roll away bed, All seemed to be well, however, upon arriving home my son starting itching and noticed multiple bug bites on his leg and ankles and feet. I called the hotel, reported a bed bug incident and claim was filed including photos of the bites with the hotel insurance company. We spent the next few days disinfecting our home, bedding and suitcases. A few days later the hotel security manager informed me that they had an inspector and sniffing dogs come and inspect the room and "all the roll away beds" and their findings were "negative". I am highly skeptical as the bites stopped when we arrived home! It has been 3 business days since this phone call, I contacted the insurance company who informed that they have yet not received the reports from inspector and will contact me with their findings. With all this being said there has been NO CONTACT from hotel management. I understand not hotel is risk free, but there seems to be no regard for customer concerns/experience. I waited to post a review to allow hotel management to contact me but have heard nothing.
Awesome hotel in downtown LA. The rooms are good, but not exceptional. Breakfast is served buffet style, but the choices are limited. The staff is usually friendly, however I encountered a rude member at the front desk when asking for late checkout. The motto of Marriott “It pays to book direct” was not felt at all especially at this situation. Moreover, I’m a silver elite with Marriott and despite that fact I was not given my chosen late check-out time which was 2 pm, so not a very late time. Also, I received a room on a lower floor, which also does not confirm that “it pays to book direct”. Anyways, it was a decent experience.
Water outage occurred when we were staying in. No notice was given until checking in. The hotel was gracious enough to provide a grand total of 2 porta potties for all the guests. The staff was uncourteous to put it lightly (understandably due to all the complaints).
