I had the fried alligator nuggets, with rice and beans and collard greens and it was soooo delicious! If you've never had alligator, I recommend it.

Worst stuffed ever! Alligator tail filet was over cooked nuggets. What a disappointing experience. Waste of time and money.

We thoroughly enjoyed eating Louisiana, Cajun, dishes. Where else can you dine on alligator in L.A.?

Gumbo was just OK. The sweet potato chips were good. Loved the farmer market vibe.

Wish I would’ve seen these reviews before going but due to bad reception in the area I ate here blindly, and boy was it a mistake. The gumbo, & side of potato salad were absolutely awful. The cornbread was decent but for a $25 meal I felt absolutely ripped off.

One of the worst meals I’ve ever had. I ordered the grilled fish, came burned and I could only taste char( no fish taste). potato salad had a strange fatty taste and no flavour. We also ordered fried fish, don’t recommend as well.

Quick and friendly service. Food was delicious and even the small portion was more than enough. We had the alligator gumbo and meatloaf.

Tried a po boy, gumbo, and bread pudding.

For $36 it was not worth missing out on the better options nearby. The most underwhelming new orleans cuisine I've had anywhere.

My wife and I stopped by The Gumbo Pot on a Saturday afternoon after a day of shopping at The Grove and just exploring the Los Angeles area. As seasoned soul food enthusiasts, we were intrigued by the menu and decided to give it a try.

We asked the gentleman at the cashier for his recommendation, and he strongly suggested the seafood gumbo. We ordered the gumbo with two sides--cornbread and collard greens (which we chose over mustard greens). I also ordered two oysters on the half shell. The service was quick; our order arrived in about five minutes, and the staff was friendly.

Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. The gumbo was at best mediocre--lacking the depth of flavor I expect from a good gumbo. The greens were unusual, cooked in what tasted like tomato sauce or paste, which isn’t typical for soul food and didn’t quite hit the mark for us. The oysters, while fresh, didn’t elevate the experience.

Overall, this place felt more like a Cajun or backwoods experience rather than a traditional soul food spot, which was misleading based on the menu. If you're looking for authentic soul food, this might not be the best choice. However, if you're seeking a Cajun-style seafood experience, it could be worth a shot.

Ex employee here STAY away or you'll get sick

Employees told not to change gloves in between touching raw seafood and cooked food or bread or veggies

Basically they touch the utensils then raw seafood and then touch your veggies and cooked meat all with the same glove

Told to just rinse off single use gloves if you feel they are dirty

Also they keep the seafood for more than 5 days even though dated the seafood is way past 5 days in some cases
