Thank god we have a Greek restaurant on the west side of LA! If you , like me have been thus far unsuccessfully fulfilling your craving for all things Greek food - run to Taverna at The Mar Vista. Lemon chicken, olives, Mitssaka are a must!!! Atmosphere is like your favorite hometown spot. Not fussy but comfortable.

The restaurant did two deliberate 'errors' in their favor with the bill, and then the server responded rudely and dismissively about it. #1 They have a wrong amount in their favor programmed into their billing system, and #2 they rounded the cash change in their favor on a $75 tab.

After my experience and reading the reviews here, it's clear that this restaurant is consistently rude and mismanaged.

I hope this place goes out of business. Shenanigans with the bill, and then acting like the customer owes it to you is wildly unprofessional behavior.

Really liked this place! Mykonos salad was delicious, octopus was great, the kreatopita was served really cold, the lamb chops were lukewarm as well as the fries, but delicious. The espresso wasn't a espresso but dessert (portokalopita) was amazing. Recommend.

O am a foodie and this is the place. I am half Greek and live part of the year in Greece. Over the past forty years I have eaten at many dozens of Greek restaurants in the United States. When traveling to a new city, I’m always looking for especially authentic and tasteful Greek cuisine. This restaurant/taverna is BY FAR the best Greek food I’ve eaten outside of Greece. The Sunday spit meats (kondosouvli) are just amazing. The have pork and chicken and also traditional sausage. The spanakopita is as good as I make it, and I use my mother’s recipe with thin philo and lots of buttered layers. The deserts were excellent. The music, ambience, service, and vibe were so welcoming.

A very relaxed dining experience in a nice atmosphere. My friends relayed the slow paced dining experience to being in Europe. We ordered a bunch of shareable dishes, some favorites were the Greek potatoes, smelt, saganaki, and artichokes

Get the Moussaka, I promise you won't regret it! Only authentic moussaka I've ever found in LA and I am always looking for it. The portions are HUGE- easily enough for 2 adults. Atmosphere is beautiful but also has a very laid back vibe. Staff are always very welcoming and happy. Beautiful full bar with bar tables as well as a dining area with outside seating. Traverna checks all the boxes!

Been twice now and the place keeps impressing. Called in the AM to make a reservation for Sunday evening. Got seated at a ambiance-y table outside on the patio with dim lighting. Highly recommend the lavraki -- whole sea bass. It's A+. Before I ordered it I wondered whether the bones would be annoying but I'm glad I went for it because they slide right off :) Service was kind and attentive, which helped as we were in a rush to get to the airport afterwards.
