The Paramount is a small and intimate venue, perfect for experiencing live music. The nightclub, located upstairs, has a cozy loft atmosphere with a bar and a patio overlooking the street. However, parking can be challenging as there is no lot nearby. The venue pays homage to the East LA music scene, with wallpaper in the entrance covered in reproductions of flyers from shows at The Vex Club. The inside is roomy but could use more seating, and the balcony is often filled with smokers. The sound and stage/lighting are decent, and the selection of bands varies in quality. Security is present, and there is a metal detector by the front. The Paramount uses plastic cups for drinks, which has caused some criticism. Despite these minor flaws, the venue is a great place to hear music and is worth visiting, especially for those interested in the local music scene.
